Too many factors to consider imo, this doesn’t seem like something where there’s one optimal choice

Extremely subjective and varies between industries, products, target market, etc.. Stop overthinking it. Just get to the launch phase and worry about the rest later.

I’m trying to set our SEO and start a following but I’m avoid a waitlist on purpose. I don’t think it’s worth the effort and money. It’s almost double effort. 1) sign users to a waitlist and then 2) converting them to a customer. I’m using the savings in time and money to better our platform.
This bullshit waiting game has got to stop. A customer list is a rapidly depreciating asset. A list of non-paying prospects has a shelf life measured in hours.
How astonishing that people know attention spans grow ever shorter, but their ineptly contacted prospects are pre-sold and have photographic memory.
I get a lead, that lead is sent a sales letter. They buy or not. Waiting serves no purpose. But of course, waiting around curled up in the fetal position is a best practice here.
