I'm an adjunct instructor for a US university. They have a policy of not working outside the country at any point in the term. I want to teach but will be out of country for a week during the term, can a VPN mask my location? What VPN solution would be best for this? I would appreciate any help.

You should understand that even if you can get away with using a VPN to mask your location, you’re still breaking the terms of your employment and are subject to whatever punishment your contract dictates.

You also don’t know if your university blocks VPN access. If they don’t they might wonder why you’re bouncing around various cities. And if your university provides email access, and you access said email with your mobile device(s), that’s another vulnerability that you need to address. Or if your ISP blocks VPN access. Or if the country (looking at you, China) blocks VPN access.

I know you didn’t expect the lecture. Just know that there are myriad ways this could backfire on you.
