Change my mind: There was no coup. They just staged this, so it can seem like microsoft just saved a broken company, instead of looking like microsoft bribed their way to effectivly buy a nonprofit. Question is if the rest of the openai board is paid for in money, or was threatened to comply. I imagine you can kill quite a lot of someones family, with no evidence leading back to you for that kinda budget.

This sounds fishy, this whole story gets less absurd when you think about It as plotted by microsoft just to "acquire" openai without having to deal with anti-monopilistic regulation.
