My friend who currently wears a massive (51 mm) garmin is looking for his first mechanical (preferably openheart) watch. He really likes the orient bambino openheart, but it only comes in 40.5 max size.

We tried on a few watches and it needs to be at least 42mm.

I've really tried to find something, but it seems that larger watches are really hard to find. Any suggestions?

My biggest auto is a Laco Basic Aachen. It is a flieger style watch. 42mm and fairly thick. About $400.

Dan Henry makes the 1970 diver which I believe comes in 40 or 44, but I'm not sure. That will be just under 300 if I recall correctly. That one was always too big for me.

Hope this helps. Good luck
