So, I have a ceiling fan+light that I installed a IR receptor+remote (no brand, bought in a chinese website, very simple).

However, I bought a new LG SmartTV and its magic mouse is annoyingly turning on my tv. The power button has the exact same frequency of the “Light” button on the remote, and the “mute” key turns on my fan.

I really don’t want to buy another infrared remote kit for my ceiling light/fan. I’m using the tv remote on my phone but it’s annoying to unlock screen-find app-open app etc.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Is it possible to change the frequency, either from the fan/light remote or the TV?

This interference is driving me insane. Thank you!

I see you’re not a….fan….of this situation. I too would be beaming with anger

The frequency is infrared. The pulse code is what would need to be changed.

I can't speak for the no brand Chinese receiver. But I doubt that it has adjustable codes. The LG TV IR codes are not changeable.

You will need to:

a.) Replace the TV with a different brand.
b.) Replace the fan IR kit.
c.) Shield your IR transmitter and receiver so that it is more directional. But, depending an where everything is located, this could get annoying.

You now only watch tv with the light on

Just set it up to open the garage, flush the toilet, and start the dishwasher and you've got a lawsuit from Staples for ripping off their easy button idea.

Just put some electrical tape over the fan’s infrared receiver. You can leave a pinhole open so you can aim the remote directly at it for fan to receive commands. This works also if you have multiple TVs close to each other w/o a way of changing IR codesets for same/similar makes.

Open up the fan remote battery compartment and see if there are small switches in there. If so, you can set those to a different frequency, but you'll have to do the exact same thing on the fan remote box.
