Do it, you only live once

This is REALLY COOL. Definitely a nice watch. Eco-Drives are amazing.

[–] RedBull12345678@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

I have been looking at several different watches but this is the one that really stands out to me, looks but also price. This would be my first "nice" watch. I had a stupid Samsung smartwatch but I didn't like being attached to my phone so I bought a g-shock ga100-mb-1a. I like not being tethered to my phone with the gshock and have wanted a nicer watch for a bit. Please let me know what you think or if you think there is a better option. Only finishing up high school so I do not really want to go above 200usd.

It's a super elegant watch, and i'm sure she'll follow you with pleasure and efficiency in your adventures ! ;)

[–] suitcase24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's nice just be aware it's a very large watch at 45mm

I have the Promaster Skyhawk from Citizen now since 2015.

It's a daily for me and I work in a very physical job. I have a bit of wear but the thing is bullet proof.

Eco drive is amazing too, most cheaper battery watches I bought had maybe 2-3 years on them before dying. Eco drive just keeps going.

I have a couple of the eco-drives and love them.

You really can’t go wrong with a Eco Drive, and that is a good price.

My brother got one as a groomsmen gift. It's pretty solid. The strap is very long

[–] Certain_Category1926@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My first watch was an eco drive as a gift a long time ago. Great reliable watch.

[–] vectorgeek@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a nice first watch! Well done. I have a couple EcoDrives and never had issues with them.

[–] muphasta@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love Citizen Eco-Drives. That one looks quite nice!

[–] PDX-ROB@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Check that it's sapphire and also check the thickness. Some citizens are thicc bois that don't slider under most cuffs.

Also check out prices on OfficialWatchDeals on Ebay.

[–] micro2532@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Go and get it. A good and good looking watch from a respected company

[–] melobassline@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That will serve you well... eco drives are dope and this looks fun and sporty. You can have some fun with this trying out some different bands. Might look pretty cool on a black band

[–] SanderDieman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nice looking watch. Citizen is typically real value for money. I’ld say: go for it!

[–] sloopSD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Obviously as a citizen, can’t go wrong with an eco drive like everyone mentioned. Just make sure you like the look and that the case size is comfortable for your wrist. Too big and you may not like it. Also, for this one, the date window is in a weird spot but suppose that’s not a deal breaker. You’ll be able to swap out straps to keep things fresh. Good luck!

[–] shotsfired3841@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eco Drives are great. I'm sure you'd be happy with that watch. I would consider whether you would like an automatic watch more. Once I started buying automatic watches with sweeping hands I haven't bought another Quartz watch since. You can find some great Seiko watches in your price range. Check some of them out and best of luck in your search.

[–] dcawvive@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

my eco drive is 23 years old and still accurate AF. That is a sharp looking watch and would be pretty versatile. Go for it.

[–] VogonSlamPoet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Citizen gets shit I’m at times, but they’re solid watches. I have a titanium eco drive skyhawk that’s nearly twenty years old, it was my first “adult” watch.

[–] Dr-Doctor-PhD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My only gripe with my eco drive is that "CITIZEN" is written on the crystal, not the face of the watch. Couldn't tell from all the pictures, was a disappointment when I got it. It's not this model though, one of the star wars ones.

[–] Dolannsquisky@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly man; I used to have a few Seiko and Citizens that I got rid of; had you posted something like this maybe early last year. I would have just given you all of mine.

[–] iHateDanny@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's a nice looking watch, I dig it.

[–] dpol27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I got an eco drive as my first watch when I was a senior in high school. I still have it and it still runs great. Citizen is a reliable brand with a great reputation, and this watch looks like a great choice. Do it!

[–] Ok_Form_134@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This was actually my first watch. I really enjoyed it for a while. It's definitely VERY sporty looking so hard to wear outside of casual.

My only comment would be to seriously consider if you think you want to "get into" watches. Because if you think that might happen, eventually you're really going to want to go to mechanical watches and this piece might feel underwhelming and you might regret spending the money.

If that sounds like a possibility, save up a little more for a Seiko or an Orient. You'll thank yourself. There are reasonably nice Seiko 5 models that you can snag for a couple hundred bucks and will be more versatile and reasonably high quality for the money.

[–] Puukkot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have a bunch of watches, some of them very nice. I’ve been thinking of picking up an Eco Drive for the no-worry factor. It’ll never need a service or a battery.

This is a handsome one; I was looking at a similar model called the Brycen that has a rotating dive bezel, but then I found out the bezel on that model doesn’t actually rotate. Why, Citizen? Why? Anyway, this is a nice watch and a solid choice.

[–] kopper499b@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have the Stormtrooper version of this Citizen. Same case, trim, etc. with different colors and dial. Wears very comfortably. As others have said, the eco drive is great.

[–] lollipoppizza@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Watch out for diameter. This one looks like it could be big and might not fit smaller wrists.

[–] Much_Relationship445@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
  1. Do too think you’ll enjoy looking at it? If yes, buy it. My daily driver is a $100 Timex despite owning several “fancy” watches.

If it makes you confident wearing it, it doesn’t matter the brand.

  1. Citizen is a respectable brand. I don’t personally own an Eco-drive but they are fantastic watches.
[–] Structureel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eco-drives are great, and this is a really nice looking one! It has a bit of a Longines Conquest kinda vibe.

[–] ThisIsPaulina@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Citizens are great watches. Unpretentious but respectable.

[–] p33k4y@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

10/10 great looking watch!

[–] kickstartdriven@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can't go wrong with eco drive! A citizen was my first watch, a graduation gift to myself for graduating college

[–] fawkesmulder@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Citizen Eco drives are the best quartz watches for value on the market imo.

[–] RockitDanger@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Looks great. I really like Citizen. I have a bunch. I'd advise you look at their Promaster line. The Nighthawk is a stunner. The diver is on every diver list out there. Lots to choose from

[–] jdsciguy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's a quality watch, so if you like it go for it.

I particularly like the numerical indices and the way they did the date so it doesn't require the 3 to be removed.

[–] protocod@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The watch looks beautiful on the picture, try to see this model in real life or on some videos taken by owners to get an idea of the real look of the watch.

Eco Drive watches are good products BTW.

[–] CaleyAg-gro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That is a very nice watch, good choice.

[–] yaztek@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a great watch. My wife bought it for me for my birthday last year.

[–] Geoleogy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have this watch. Bought it one a flight. I love it. If on amazon use camel camel camel DOT com to check current price as it goes up a d down alot

[–] Geoleogy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Necastiva_Sila@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you like it, go for it. Nobody here will say anything bad about Citizen, especially EcoDrive.

[–] Proton189@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Buy a Invicta 💪

[–] Geoleogy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Also some great 2nd hand eco drives on amazon

[–] TheGrandStander11@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Looks great. But it. YOLO

[–] Materva@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not a fan of Quartz typically, but I give Eco-drive a pass because it's solar powered. Nice looking watch!

[–] lmboyer04@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wow looks reminiscient of the JLC Polaris. It is not a small watch so I couldn’t pull it off but it looks dope

[–] hikingactor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can't go wrong with an Eco-Drive, great first watch. Love the blue. Pull the trigger if you like it! Doesn't matter what we all think at the end of the day.
