Hate to say it, but I think Tyreek Hill should get it

[–] JuanPicasso@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mvp shouldn’t be a qb this year. If they give it to a qb on an off year then they’re just destroying the award imo. Why would hurts be an mvp? What has he done better than even AJ brown or Tyreek hill? What he has a lot of 1 yard rushing TDs? Coty award is a joke, comeback is a joke, mvp is a joke.

[–] stinkyholetime@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Myles Garrett?

[–] chaosthirtyseven@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is funny because Mahomes not only outplayed the Hurts, but Hurts didn't look particularly impressive in the game at all.

It's like gambling addicts know like ten football players and just constantly aim for them to win.

[–] Shaynisin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why? He was mid last night

Stroud should be the frontrunner, or Myles Garrett

[–] Bob-Dolemite@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

im torn here. like, we expected these guys to do what they’re doing. i really think stroud and what hes done in houston makes him more valuable to his team than what mahomes or hurts does.

CMC has been the most valuable player in the NFL by a large margin.

[–] SaturnATX@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lamar Jackson 12 passing TD and 5 rushing TDs in 11 games, I'm sort of shocked at how high his MVP odds have been all season. The fact that only quarterbacks are allowed to be considered for MVP is almost certainly propping up his odds/chances, I think if people considered non-QBs, like Tyreek Hill or Myles Garrett, Jackson wouldn't be considered an MVP candidate.

Receivers drop 6 catchable passes including the game winner. The Athletic: “Mahomes wasn’t any good last night, just look at his stats?”

Hurts is really just a great fit for his system and he is surrounded by elite offensive weapons.

Not sure I’m convinced that if you put him in, say Carolina, he’s still an MVP.

(See how dumb that sounds.)

[–] EarlPartridgesGhost@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lol who watches that game with Mahommes Wr dropping wide open TDs, fumbling the ball in the RZ and thought “yah Hurts played better”?

[–] Warhorse_99@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Myles Garrett can keep pace, or improve his stats this season he should get some love because there’s no clear QB leaders.

I know there’s virtually no shot, but a DPoY & some MVP love would be nice regardless.

[–] Kflame210@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

We live in a world where MVS dropping a pass altered MVP odds. Maybe we should base this award on the best player?

[–] Lovnsmash@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Myles Garrett should be in the MVP conversation if/when the browns make the playoffs

[–] Tunatron_Prime@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What!? Fucking how?

Have some fucking balls and name a non-QB

[–] airwalker12@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Purdy is ahead of Hurts in every passing stat. Yes Hurts has the 9 rushing TDs, most of which are from 1 yard but it's absurd to think that makes him the MVP.

Just to be clear this is more of an argument against Hurts as mvp than in favor of Purdy.

CMC or Tyreek should be MVP IMO

[–] just-the-tip__@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Weird takeaway from that game tbh. Hurts looks meh while Mahomes still looks as good as usual with zero help from the supporting cast

[–] gotchu_bro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

CMC disappear?

[–] Big_Liability@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just make it the "Best QB Award" for the love of god.

[–] cranetrain95@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I mean I get why because of being a quarterback on the best record and beating mahomes but I gotta say hurts didn’t look spectacular yesterday either.

[–] klayyyylmao@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Cmon he shouldn’t even be in consideration they are practically winning in spite of him this year. He has been much worse than last year.

[–] ChargeWithThunder@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Did he really one up mahomes?? Don’t get me wrong he’s not been bad this year but tyreek or cmc should be the front runner

[–] RonnieLottOmnislash@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I nean guy catches a ball he looses the game. He didn't do anything too amazing. His one deep ball eas famn good. But idk why winning a game that was really close and KC could just have easily won proves he's the mvp

[–] Intimateworkaround@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Gonna be a real bummer if just a good not great QB season gets MVP. shake it up and give it to a non QB. It’s just a season award. Do it.

[–] Doinkmckenzie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If the Broncos make the playoffs, give it to Russ if we’re not going to give it to a non-QB

[–] Peefersteefers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He jumps to favorite after that performance? Really?

What a joke of an award

[–] Ok_Button3151@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah that 150 yard performance and the 1 yard qb sneaks were such an incredible qb duel performance…

[–] theslumpiest@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe Reek if he gets 2K

[–] AvidAviator72@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

? Where’s JF1 on the list?

[–] varsityvideogamer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If I had a vote, my top 3 rn would be some order of CMC, Tyreek Hill, and Myles Garrett

[–] mdmd33@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

KC did a hellava lot more to lose that game than the Eagles did to win it

[–] BringOutYDead@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] ThePMmike@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Hurts didn’t get hurt last year it would’ve been his I thought.

I hope he gets it this year.

[–] lego_mannequin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hurts one upping Mahomes? Please. Swift carried drives and his WRs made incredible grabs compared to the easy stuff the Chiefs dropped. Mahomes was still the better QB last night.

[–] Papaloxs@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Man Hurts gets no respect with football fans outside Philly. It’s sad.

Hurts has 13 consecutive wins against teams with winning records, breaking a tie with Peyton Manning and Vinny Testaverde for the most in NFL history.

Since the stat was first tracked in 1991, Hurts is the only quarterback with five straight victories when his team trails by double digits (streak at seven). Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, and Vinny Testaverde each have four straight wins when their team trails by 10-plus points -- tied for second on the all-time list.

Hurts has a .389 win percentage when trailing by 10-plus points, the second-best mark in the Super Bowl era (Patrick Mahomes is first with .560). Hurts is 8-11 when trailing by 10-plus points in his career, having a better win percentage than Tom Brady (.378) and Joe Montana (.370) -- third and fourth people on the list.

What Hurts is accomplishing is unprecedented, as he's 26-2 in his last 28 starts. The Eagled are 9-1 in consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history as a result.

[–] ItsnotBatman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Trying not to be a homer here but the only reason it isn’t near unanimous that Purdy is thus far the MVP is the assumption he will come down to earth. Or maybe the wrong assumption that he’s just throwing short screen passes and his ball carriers are doing the rest. The reality is Purdy leads in all efficiency stats and near the top in most bulk stats while winning most games comfortably and playing ball control clock killing offense more than most other QB’s. His average length of throw is the furthest, and yards per attempt and completion are both absolutely bonkers and greater than most MVP QB seasons. Yes he has an incredible supporting cast, but the QB’s before him had them and weren’t playing this great.

[–] Pleasant_Spray5878@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, all those throws into the ground and one for a pick were elite!

[–] SlapChopMyShamWow@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This might be the weirdest MVP race I’ve ever seen, like there hasn’t really been a QB who’s been consistently dominant enough to deserve it. Honestly the best 3 offensive players this year have been CMC, Tyreek Hill and AJ Brown

Calm down athletic, Mahomes' receivers beat him. Not really Hurts.

It don't matter how good of a quarterback you are if your receivers won't catch the ball.

[–] HermDog04@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Hurts wins MVP this year then the award loses all credibility

[–] Lovnsmash@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Unfortunately OPOY has become the defacto “non QB MVP award”. While a QB can win it, and a non-QB can win MVP, at this point it seems clear that MVP will be a QB and OPOY will be a WR/RB

[–] GhostMug@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Myles Garrett should be the front runner for MVP this year. CLE's D is one of the only reasons they are where they are and Garrett is on an incredible tear.

[–] ThrowPaak@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I am a massive Hurts lover, but dude did not do anything last night to jump into top of the MVP race. Give it to AJ Brown, Tyreek, CMC, Myles Garrett...

[–] thebestatheist@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

CMC is the MVP this season, unless Hurts or Mahomes really start balling out

[–] zachariah120@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Patrick mahomes had the better game funny enough but dropped passes cost the chiefs

[–] DipperPRC@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Give it to CMC, you cowards.

[–] Brycie27@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Jalen Hurts wins it, it will be the least deserved MVP of all time.

[–] AmishJohn81@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If mvs catches that ball it's mahomes is still the guy
