The Memphis Grizzlies are currently selling tickets for as low as $2 per seat. They are averaging the 5th worst attendance in the league at 16, 833 which is worse than half of the Vancouver Grizzlies seasons almost 30 years ago when average attendance league wide was much lower than now.

Am I still petty that Memphis took our team? Absolutely.

But I can also guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find tickets to a Vancouver NBA game for the price of a quarter of a water at Rogers Arena. Not to mention I'm positive that Vancouver could do better than the 5th worst attendance in the league.

I look forward to seeing salty Memphis fans in my DMs, but just remember you would be frustrated too if a worse market stole you're NBA team, and then showed poor support to an actually talented team.

I still have a bunch of old Grizzlies crap like a growth chart poster with the mascot and books. Maybe if they came back I could sell it!

Ja ain't allowed in Canada... Probably

It's very revealing about the demographics of this subreddit that your argument for why Memphis should not have an NBA team is that the tickets are affordable.

The league could benefit from up to SIX expansion teams. Lots of talent to go around? Enough point guards? Well, only way to find out.

Good to hear that there are still lots of NBA fans in Vancouver, BC. As a Grizzlies fan, umm, not sure why some cities have teams and others don't. Could have been worse -- the Grizzlies could have ended up in Louisville.

I think Vancouver, BC would perfectly complement Seattle (expansion team). I also like the idea of the NBA invading the Montreal sports market.

Austin, TX has no major big 4 sports team. They deserve one. But, honestly if the Grizzlies relocate, the Spurs maybe should relocate to Austin.

Las Vegas deserves a team (maybe). Although they should have been the FIRST pro sports league out there, now they are looking into an over-saturated sports market.

If the Grizzlies don't relocate, Nashville could be a great market for an NBA expansion team.

Beat the NFL (and everyone else) to 36 teams.

Two conferences with 18 teams. Two divisions of 9 teams in each conference.

Can you imagine the expansion drafts?

... as a Memphis Grizzlies fan, I am getting a bit tired with our Front Office. The team is also gonna try to shake us down for new improvements. Although, secretly, I think they want a brand-new arena. One of the local radio guys accidentally brought this up a few months ago.

IF Memphis lost the Grizz BUT got a new expansion team a few years from now, I would almost be cool with that -- even though I am still on Ja Morant Island (bought the T shirt AND have the shoes).

"Trade" the Grizzlies to Las Vegas but retire the name (let Vancouver have it back). Send us the Athletics (but let the name stay in Oakland), and the Raiders -- the MEMPHIS RAIDERS sounds great!

Vegas gets new NFL and NBA expansion teams soon.

Memphis also gets an NBA expansion team soon as well as a WNBA team.

I think ALL the major leagues should have at least 34 to 36 teams. And, I think having at least 2 teams/leagues in any particular market offers synergistic upside. ... easier to get state funds/tax revenues for MULTIPLE teams.

Ja Morant in Las Vegas would be fun. But, maybe we do need a Vancouver Grizzlies team again. Memphis can get a new team in a few years -- and let the NEW ownership group fully fund a brand new arena. Maybe we can just promote our G League team name aka The Memphis Hustle. ... maybe the FedEx Forum in Memphis can host the Las Vegas' NBA team's G League outpost in the mean time. Getting the Memphis Athletics and the Memphis Raiders would more than make up for not having an NBA team for a few seasons. It would also help the Memphis Tigers get some fans/momentum/hype back.

You have a better chance of running into a Grizzly bear in Memphis then seeing the Memphis Grizzlies make the playoffs.

[–] moutonbleu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s gone for good. If Seattle can’t get one yet, having Amazon and Microsoft based there with all the cash, then we’ll never get it with Lululemon and Telus and Teck Resources

David Stern himself said letting the Grizz leave Vancouver was the biggest mistake of his whole career!

With Seattle too, we'll have back the complete Northwest road swing (SF-SAC-POR-VAC)

The name Jazz should so obviously still be in New Orleans and it bothers me. Also, bring the Clippers back to SD so we can have a team (LA doesn’t need 2, but brand new stadium lol).

What a bad start to the season does to a mfer

[–] eddiehwang@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

$2 ticket $3.90 in service fee lmao

[–] Oren-@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Im an out of market fan, so I dont feel especially attached to Memphis. But seeing these Canadian losers show up every time we have a down year makes me hope Vancouver never gets a team.

Sorry you lost your team but they finally have an identity in Memphis. Also arena only seats like 17k

[–] Natureboy7939@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Welp time to check for lakers tickets against the grizzlies

JA MORANT WOULD THRIVE IN VANCOUVER, NO OPEN CARRY. GIVE US OUR TEAM BACK! STOP THE STEAL!

Holy overreaction…we’re just going to move the team after seeing attendance numbers for 6 games where over half of the roster is out injured (or suspended)?

[–] eXistentialMisan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

mmm yes I see Vancouverites have enough money after their mortgage for an NBA process ticket.

[–] Gsgunboy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I support Grizzlies going home. They don’t belong in Memphis.

[–] FrostNeverUnholy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Memphis is 100x the basketball city Vancouver is. Sorry not sorry

[–] internet_poster@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

who could have foreseen that bringing an NBA franchise to the 44th largest and 108th richest metropolitan area in the USA might not have been a good decision by the league

[–] ProfessionalCow9265@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Memphis is literally one of the few cities I will go out of my way to drive around on a road trip. Peace.

[–] VeryCoolCat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I also live in vancouver and can confirm that i see more vancouver grizzly jerseys than i do lakers.

Is the grizzlies fan base this split? Half of you are Vancouver fans still angry and the other half are Memphis fans?

[–] Ikea_desklamp@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Grizzlies were never given a fair shot here. The team was utter dogwater for its entire existence in Vancouver because they were given virtually 0 pieces to work with. And then they go "why does no one come to games" and relocate the team.

$24 for lower level tickets to a wolves game?

What is this, 2012?

I....almost want to convince my wife to let me attend a Grizz game when we visit, if plane flights from MSP are reasonable. I won't cause I'm a coward with a car that needs replacing. But a boy can dream

[–] goodcanadianbot97@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Last I checked Vancouver only supports winning teams. Canuck’s sure had shit crowds when they were losing the last ten years. What’s gonna happen if they comeback? Team gonna suck and nobody shows up?!

[–] micowywa@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That would be great. Also Move LA Clippers to Las Vegas and rename. Sacramento Kings to Seattle and Sonics are back.
