They remind me of the Grit 'n Grind Grizzlies.

But, Edwards is a better scorer than anything Memphis had those years. KAT is legit, too. Either as a 1 or 1a.

Were Larry Steele's steals totals audited by Ernst & Young?

Just sayin....

Yeah, uh, can we count these things?

P.S. Oh, the word KA-REEM sounds like somebody who is prolific at something... like blocking shots, or scoring...

P.P.S. Magic Johnson getting lots of triple doubles... that tracks too.

Can you imagine if the original Bol (Manute. RIP) had this green light?

I mean, Manute's highlight reel was already ridiculous.

Some of these top lotto picks shoot the ball like players did before they invented the jump shot.

He shoots like a random big guy * in the old Bulls vs. Blazers video game.

*I would have said Bill Cartwright, but I would have been down-voted big time.

The loud, obnoxious courts not-withstanding, the In Season Tournament, even though it has an award (pro wrestling belt?) it has put a bit more focus back on "teams" instead of "rings, Ernuhh" culture.

And, the MVP convos were getting kind of old. Jokic versus Embiid (versus Giannis) round 3.

Breath of fresh air.

Either, if you LOVE the NBA. Or, if you love to HATE the NBA -- which nobody does better than NBA fans. haha.

Whoever wins the In Season Tourney, not sure if it adds to a narrative, or anything like that, or if it helps teams down the road in the play-offs, but at least it is something interesting. Good competition with college basketball that does pre/mid/post season tournaments better than anybody.

I think the In Season Tournament has an MVP award. Or, it should. That could be a big award to play for.

The IST also turns the NBA into 3 parts: start of the year until the IST. IST to the All Star Weekend/Trade Deadline (I forgot which happens first). Then, of course, the stretch run (going into the playoffs).

... IST could affect the narratives for the MVP race more than the playoff race/Finals race.

Discuss.

No more than five.

Shaq bandwagon fan, then a Memphis State/Penny guy (years before the Grizzlies relocated) so, duh.

Penny/Shaq is still the best synergistic young duo I have ever seen.

Nick Anderson bricked 4 straight free throws.

Shaq signing with the Lakers ended a "sure thing" Orlando Magic dynasty, but Dennis Rodman getting traded to the Bulls gave Chicago the edge (at least short-term/intermediate term) over Orlando.

Well, that's the NBA. You just never know.

So, Ja Morant.

[–] Far-Yak-9808@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

The "next 5" should be at the top of the list.

Might be the best MVP leader board since Magic/Bird's last few great seasons that aligned with guys like Dominique/Isiah/McHale then the classic mega stars like Jordan/Hakeem/Barkley/Ewing/Mailman really starting to take off.

Hopefully they throw out the narratives -- and let the best candidate win.

Don't think "team record" should matter all that much. Given how much parity there is. Unless we get some extreme like a team wins 70 plus games. OR, a team wins fewer than 20-25 games.

Greek Freak, LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Tyrese Halliburton... could win this thing. Shai could win this thing. Heck, Chet Holmgren is balling out with a highly-efficient style. Give it to Chad Lincoln if he deserves it.

The league could benefit from up to SIX expansion teams. Lots of talent to go around? Enough point guards? Well, only way to find out.

Good to hear that there are still lots of NBA fans in Vancouver, BC. As a Grizzlies fan, umm, not sure why some cities have teams and others don't. Could have been worse -- the Grizzlies could have ended up in Louisville.

I think Vancouver, BC would perfectly complement Seattle (expansion team). I also like the idea of the NBA invading the Montreal sports market.

Austin, TX has no major big 4 sports team. They deserve one. But, honestly if the Grizzlies relocate, the Spurs maybe should relocate to Austin.

Las Vegas deserves a team (maybe). Although they should have been the FIRST pro sports league out there, now they are looking into an over-saturated sports market.

If the Grizzlies don't relocate, Nashville could be a great market for an NBA expansion team.

Beat the NFL (and everyone else) to 36 teams.

Two conferences with 18 teams. Two divisions of 9 teams in each conference.

Can you imagine the expansion drafts?

... as a Memphis Grizzlies fan, I am getting a bit tired with our Front Office. The team is also gonna try to shake us down for new improvements. Although, secretly, I think they want a brand-new arena. One of the local radio guys accidentally brought this up a few months ago.

IF Memphis lost the Grizz BUT got a new expansion team a few years from now, I would almost be cool with that -- even though I am still on Ja Morant Island (bought the T shirt AND have the shoes).

"Trade" the Grizzlies to Las Vegas but retire the name (let Vancouver have it back). Send us the Athletics (but let the name stay in Oakland), and the Raiders -- the MEMPHIS RAIDERS sounds great!

Vegas gets new NFL and NBA expansion teams soon.

Memphis also gets an NBA expansion team soon as well as a WNBA team.

I think ALL the major leagues should have at least 34 to 36 teams. And, I think having at least 2 teams/leagues in any particular market offers synergistic upside. ... easier to get state funds/tax revenues for MULTIPLE teams.

Ja Morant in Las Vegas would be fun. But, maybe we do need a Vancouver Grizzlies team again. Memphis can get a new team in a few years -- and let the NEW ownership group fully fund a brand new arena. Maybe we can just promote our G League team name aka The Memphis Hustle. ... maybe the FedEx Forum in Memphis can host the Las Vegas' NBA team's G League outpost in the mean time. Getting the Memphis Athletics and the Memphis Raiders would more than make up for not having an NBA team for a few seasons. It would also help the Memphis Tigers get some fans/momentum/hype back.

Not very thoughtful of James Harden to interrupt Wemby's after dinner jog.
