I posted something yesterday talking about how I hit $25k MRR.

Then I got dozens of DMs. Some from people who genuinely wanted advice.

But some others are depressed that they’re not rich. “How can I hit $25k MRR? I hate my life rn!”

Can we please take a chill pill and stop watching hustle porn?! I failed countless businesses. I cried so many nights cause I convinced myself I was a failure.

I have friends who are worth $10M+ by age 21. I have friends who are worth $10M+ by age 31. And I have friends who are worthless.

It’s fucking different for everyone. No need to be depressed or angry at yourself. Just keep learning and growing. I made some of my best friends in the process of building (and failing) my businesses.

Do people not build businesses for fun anymore? Do we have to immediately flex on Instagram in order to be validated?

/end rant

The idea of building a business captivates me. The excitement and stress, and the learning that comes with it.

I have no prospects right now except some time that I'm using to learn, so I'm doing so. I can't wait to try to build something for myself

Do I switch to regular?

Social media is so fucking toxic. Fucking hate it. Everyone is a “GURU” or an “EXPERT” but really, are just piece of shit scammers praying on the inexperienced youth and sometimes the greedy and lazy. Can’t cheat hard work. Never could, never will be able to. Keep grinding people.

Great post, OP. We need to bring the fun back into the world of building businesses. We need to stop with the dick measuring contests and the net worth bullshit.

I’m working on something to help with this specific problem. I’m going to DM you

[–] Hungry_Toe_9555@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Most of them are lying or exaggerating, a very small percentage of people get rich before 50. The vast majority have multiple failures. Just focus on being the best version of you and block out the noise.

Instagram hustlers and coaches made this 1000 times worse.

[–] scottsmith81@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I had never heard that phrase "hustle porn". That is legit!

[–] r2pleasent@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"I failed countless businesses"

OP is like 23 years old for context. Trying to give out the old wisdom speech. Relax buddy.

Only thing I'm more sick of than hustle porn are the 10 paragraph brags and victory speeches. Usually comes with a photo on Facebook. Then a fking novel.

Congrats on 25kk MRR. We don't need a TEDTalk. You're not even a Millionaire yet. Save the victory speech for when you're actually rich. Or better yet, don't post one at all. Thx

Personally I tend to avoid anyone that uses hustle in their daily vocab, they tend to be utter shiesters

[–] bbqyak@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly I think there are certain "stages" that some people need to go through in their entrepreneurial journey, and the "hustle porn" stage might be one of them.

Hustle porn really helped develop my work ethic and I know a lot of other people personally who have benefited from it as well. That being said, it also did make me work a bit too hard on things I regret.

[–] mbelly57@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What is MRR?

[–] dromance@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah some people really have entrepreneurship confused with get rich quick scheming. Entrepreneurship is about creating value and businesses and helping others…

Everyone wants to be rich but not everyone actually wants to be an entrepreneur, even though most are confused and they think they do

[–] RbxBM@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Man to be honest I’ve only just realised this at age 17 🫡

[–] Manikhasan1987@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I fail a lot but I do n't learn from this

[–] AnimeYou@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How do you have friends who are 10 mill at 21?

[–] Swansaknight@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Very true, it has really been a roller coaster money wise. I’m really starting to break through, and 50k MRR as you call it should be possible soon. It’s just a lot of stress and effort. I get what you’re trying to say tho. If effort equals results, so many would be wealthy.

[–] dromance@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

A lot of people think being rich will be the answer to their problems. But it’s more likely that figuring out the answer to their problems by sheer ingenuity, and simultaneously gaining the ability to solve other peoples similar problems is, the thing that would actually make them rich.

[–] Head-Attorney3867@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Doesn't sound like you have any real friends, but I could be misinterpreting the situation.

[–] Neat-Law5948@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Who the fuck does this for fun? We do this for money bitch.

[–] Hungry_Toe_9555@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The revenue alone part drives me nuts if your making a million in revenue but your bleeding money unless your capturing highly valuable market share your literally just setting money on fire.

It’s nauseating being in the business field period for this exact reason. Seems like people fundamentally missed the point of what legitimately good and ethical business is and just want the “get rich quick” solution.

When in reality most the people who promote the hustle/ grind set lifestyle are glorified scam artists. cough cough Gary V.

[–] RainbowShlong@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If you think it’s 🧢 then ask yourself this “are you fighting the good fight?”

[–] MzAshleighJay@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is so very true. I’m at Year 3 in my business and failed over and over. But the best part is the lessons you learn from your failures. I even speak about my failures on my business page bcuz those failures build character and that’s what these TikTok and IG hustle porn watchers don’t understand. Heck even Bezos failed for years. Netflix failed time and time again. They just want the get rich quick path and that isn’t reality or what’s up.

[–] Looking_to_learn4@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This was awesome

[–] Emmyben8@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

In J. Cole's voice " Love yours, No such thing as a life that's better than yours"

[–] TotallySweep@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

21 with 10 million??? How that's less than .0001 percent

[–] runthepoint1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well all that “fun” ain’t shit when you’ve got team of people around you screaming at you to do the correct logical thing but then you decide to “do you” and cause that failure.

90% of startups fail. Why? Because people take unnecessary and uncalculated risk, they’re arrogant, and they don’t listen to the very people they hired for their expertise.

[–] Antisorq@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was genuinely curious about what weird NSFW fetish "hustle porn" would be and I was disappointed opening this thread.

[–] YTScale@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mmm depends on the person.

Really shitty mindset for someone who can't stay committed or discipline. Motivation is fleeting, so if that's all you have to go off of (aka no discipline), it won't be easy to succeed.

After consuming some of the "hustle porn" content, it really changed my life, but only because I applied it and established discipline. 6 months of $0, then the month after I signed $160k in contracts with zero expenses or overhead.

Hustle porn comes from many different directions, so people try a million things, instead of sticking with one.
