Most people seem to be giving their ranks on MVP voting citing only QBs. It’s hard to imagine that just a title over 10 years ago Brees’ 46 TDs wasn’t enough to win MVP.

I’m curious as to who the real MVP candidates are. QB production is down so I’m really gearing towards awarding it to a defensive player like Myles Garrett. I know some people have also cited CMC and Hill.

With the season Baltimore is having, it should really go to non-QB Lamar Jackson.

^(I'll see myself out)

Purdy right now should be the front runner for MVP 100%.

If a non-QB won the award this season, I’d wager it’s Tyreek Hill or CMC.

Why shouldn’t a quarterback win? With todays rules the quarterback is by FAR the most valuable position. Even if a running back or receiver is having a greater season they don’t have nearly the impact on the game that a quarterback does.

There’s really no clear-cut best player (or team for that matter) this season. I’d say Tyreek Hill would probably be my pick right now if I had a vote. Myles Garrett, Christian McCaffrey, Micah Parsons, DeRon Bland, T.J. Watt, C.J. Stroud, Keenan Allen, A.J. Brown, CeeDee Lamb, Tua…only two QBs in that list but any of those guys could deservedly get a few votes.

Chandler Zavala, he’s the MVP for every D-Line the Thers play every week.

[–] RageLife247@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

DaRon Bland, Cowboys CB

4 Pick Sixes to tie the record with SEVEN games to go?! Let's go....

If you go by the actual meaning of mvp the player most valuable to his team is Tyreek

Duron Bland has been mvp caliber too

[–] Numerous_Conflict_73@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Probably Hill. He just dominates most teams. No one can cover him.

[–] MasterApprentice67@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles garrett

[–] Dr_Feelgood2294@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s Hill all the way for me, at least so far. It’s the most dominant performance we’ve ever seen from a WR and quite frankly one of the most impressive seasons a player has ever had.

[–] Meriwether1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Taysom Hill

[–] BurritoTheory@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It has to be CMC if it’s not Jalen, Lamar or Mahomes

[–] BannersRage@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett

[–] PM_ur_butthole_2me@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That game Myles Garret had the strip sack for a td, the blocked fg and I think another forced fumble, I’ve never seen a defensive player take over a game like that before. The Browns would not have 7 wins right now without him. It’s remarkable when a defensive player can kill a teams offense and score for his own team. He would have my vote if no qb particularly stands out

[–] TopHatJaguar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cj stroud of course

[–] LordGooseIV@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Either Tyreek Hill or Christian McCaffrey. Myles Garrett would be my wildcard pick for carrying the Browns, but I think he's a shoo-in for DPOY.

[–] Filly53@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This post is disingenuous. A qb won the 2011 award, so mentioning Bree’s with out saying he lost to a qb? Why

[–] CrimsonCoast@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

FanDuel has 10 QBs ahead of CMC in terms of odds, and plenty of those QBs have no shot. Though I think CMC has a shot if he scores 2+ TDs every game for the rest of the season and throws a couple too.

[–] YepImanEmokid@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Josh Allen is the most productive RB in the league, so I'd go with him.

[–] fourpuns@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Offence:

Tua

Tyreek Hill

Christian McCaffrey

Defence:

Garett

Watt

I’d probably lean to McCaffrey at this point but lots of football to play.

[–] fourpuns@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tyreek Hill and McCaffrey are both really standing out at their respective positions. Tua also has a shot. Garrett or Watt would also be fine choices in defence but I think it’ll be one of the three offensive standouts.

Hill is on pace for 2070 receiving yards, 16 receiving TDs. The first WR to break 2000 would probably be enough of a story to get it especially if they end up first in the AFC.

[–] holdoor11@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If Myles Garrett wins it I'd be sick to my stomach. His teams doing very well and he's a big part of it but in no way shape or form is he having the season JJ had 20.5 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, 80 yard pick 6 and a fumble 6, 4 forced fumbles 5 recoverys, 3 targets 3 touchdowns, 10 pass deflections, 1 safety and a blocked kick.

[–] Bad-Yeti@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

CMC is that player that makes it look unfair for the opposing defense.

[–] Witty-Jellyfish1218@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I can't choose a QB I'd have to go with Lmao Jackson

[–] jesusmanman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the Steelers make the playoffs it's got to be TJ Watt because he carried us.

[–] Impossible-Coffee-1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett easily. Browns are nowhere near 7-3 without him.

[–] Dungong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dustin Hopkins is on pace to win the Browns about 8 games this season. Kickers getting no respect here.

[–] WestSixtyFifth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Myles Garrett, he goes down the Browns might lose out. He's absolutely dominate on an all time great defense, with negative on offense.

[–] Jarodje@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I always took MVP as if this person wasn’t on the team how bad would they be, Myles Garrett and Tyreek Hill fit the bill since if they get hurt their teams aren’t winning many games. CMC is one of my favorite players but if he goes down I think the 49ers would be ok on offense. QBs win most times since they control the offense and most times losing that QB means your season is probably lost.
