Is apple lightning dac worse than BT?

So I heard that the apple donge is quite alright for what it offers. The thing is I usually listen to my Momentum 4s through BT. I was amazed by how good Pompeii MMXXIII was so I grabed the dongle hoping to get slightly better experience, but for some reason it sounded way worse than with BT, which somehow doesn't make sense to me. It sounded flat and not as dynamic, almost as if it lacked the 3Dness (sorry for lack of good terms).

Have I misunderstood something, or why could this have happened?

The DAC inside of the 3.5mm dongle should be indeed alright. Why it sounded worse than bluetooth, I don‘t know.

There was little to no difference with my V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless and Beyerdynamic T90 or T1. When using a better Lightning DAC, the difference was a bit bigger but still not that huge. Unfortunately it got discontinued.

Thanks for mentioning Pompeii MMXXIII, didn‘t knew it was released!

nah man, the lightning dac just doesn't hit the same as BT. it's weird how it sounds worse, but that's just how it is.
