Last year, despite playing nearly 800 more minutes than JJJ (50% more minutes) it was because JJJ was a blocking god. It’s hard for me to say the 2 previous DPOY didn’t deserve it but it certainly feels unfair. Especially since JJJ wasn’t exactly 1.5 times the defender bam was. If someone gives you 90% of the production but can do it for 1.5 times as many minutes, I think you take that person over the person who played somewhat better in the significantly fewer minutes they did play
