Rob Perez, AKA WorldWideWob, does his best Jomboy impression and did a lip-reading breakdown of the confrontation between Chris Paul and referee Scott Foster after Foster ejected CP3 during the Warriors-Suns game last night.

Looks like CP3 can be seen repeatedly yelling "He's talking about my son"

The whole things seems to start pretty ordinary but goes off the rails, with Foster seeming pretty confrontational. You can really feel the history these two have.

I am not sure how he made that video where the only thing clear is a few words lol, the son part doesn't even match

I don't know Scott Foster personally, but I honestly don't think he's crazy enough to shit talk a players family and then eject him for talking back. There's microphones, cameras and people all around and he knows he'll get in serious trouble if this is true.

[–] FlyingMocko@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah and CP3 kept pressing the issue for an obvious foul. I feel like Foster gave CP3 quite about of leeway here.

You'd be surprised how brazen people can be when they feel like they're in position of power sometimes... Look at Rasheed Wallace and how he was always fucked with.... microphones, cameras and fans all there... and it still happened. Tim Donaghy situation happened right in front of everyones eyes...

I completely disagree with your statement.

He's gotten away with doing what he wants for decades, why stop now? The man was texting Tim Donaghy - who went to jail for this - hundreds of times in the most suspect of moments around games he was reffing, while Tim maintained virtually zero unnecessary contact over text with any other referee. He's untouchable.

Forgive Me, but could you clarify what you are talking about? Please explain as if I do not understand the history and the participants. Thanks.

It starts with the 2007 NBA betting scandal, which you can get a good understanding of here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZOLwxCStAc

And to which you can get Tim Donaghy's perspective:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZOLwxCStAchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3xMmPht_gw

You can even hear him admitting to refs colluding to target specific players (and subsequently place bets against that player's team):

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IK6t_Mx_a_0

I said Tim was texting Scott Foster a whole bunch during suspect moments of games in the middle of this scandal, but I was wrong - he called him. 134 times to be exact. In the same time period, he called no other ref more than a total of 13 times:

https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/scott-foster-recipient-of-134-tim-donaghy-phone-calls-refereeing-celtics-heat-game-3/

There's a great Netflix documentary about this whole thing that covers any new information in this next bit, but here's the conspiracy in a nutshell:

We are not sold sports - we are sold sports entertainment.

As a cooperating witness with the FBI, Tim Donaghy had agreed to wear a wire and go undercover to gather evidence against the multiple referees involved.

The NBA was informed by the FBI of this investigation, under the misguided (but totally natural) assumption that the league would choose to cooperate.

Instead, before anything could happen, the NBA blew the lid on the operation and fingered Donaghy as a lone wolf acting against the league - when he was in fact acting in accordance with the direction given to him by his bosses and upper management in the NBA.

It's really just self-preservation of the remaining conspirators - they sacrificed a sheep to save the flock. This it was only Tim that received any punishment whatsoever because he was the one unlucky enough to get caught first.

Dear God.

Thank you for the detailed context.

It is depressing.

[–] LivingOkInTheBay@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Isn't it. Especially when you look now and see the increasingly pervasive presence of gambling-related content in our sports media.

I wasn't much of a gambler, but I'd always thought that this type of thing was limited to just boxing and tennis.

I still watch all the sports, and I'm definitely entertained but I've stopped betting on them entirely.

Foster needs to be suspended AND the League needs to address the overall state of refereeing in the NBA.

More often than is acceptable, bad refereeing determines the 'winner' of a game.

The players deserve better and THE FANS DESERVE BETTER!

One of my biggest pet peeves is the deference given to the offense (especially to superstars). It blows that an offensive player can be responsible for significant contact yet the call goes against the defense. I don't care if the defense is not as stationary as an Easter Island Statue, if the offense CREATES THE SIGNIFICANT CONTACT then either they should receive the foul OR, for God's Sake, PLAY-ON!

P.S. Richard Jefferson said, at least 5 times, 'CP & Scott Foster have history'. He never made even the slightest attempt to explain that 'history' but he did add that Scott Foster is one of the best officials in league history.

Or is he too busy ignoring that the In-Season Playoff Courts are ondemnation of ALL officiating in the NBA.

So, Adam Silver will address this B.S.! Right?

Or is he too bust ignoring that the In-Season Playoff Courts are DANGEROUSLY SLIPPERY?

Do we know what the situation was with CP’s son?

[–] neeesus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not that I know of… but that’s the point. Maybe We shouldn’t and Scott Foster is using that info to get under Chris Paul’s skin, then finding a reason to T him up.
