Since October I've noticed that these episodes have been slowly picked off Paramount+ in Canada - in my province at least.

Given the current political climate I can at least think of a reason why they would ban the last 3 to theoretically avoid controversy (then again if they're banning specific episodes due to antisemitic themes you would think The Passion of the Jew would be the first to go, but those are still up lol), but I'm sort of puzzled as to why the first 4 have been taken off? I don't remember anything in these episodes that would warrant them being removed over any other episode. There are plenty of worse ones out there, why do you think they removed those?

This sort of thing is the main reason I'm glad I've got the entire show on dvd

[–] Captain_Lavender6@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Oh it’s on

[–] BoyishTheStrange@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Aw what? Jewpacabra is fucking hilarious

So that people will smarten up and start downloading and saving things

This is why physical media is so important!

Because we aren’t responsible enough to determine what’s offensive for ourselves.

Another win for piracy!

(Seriously, stop removing content, let the users decide what they want to watch)

No one learned a goddamn thing from cartoon wars.

[–] KaiserReich_Mapping@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is why owning it on DVD is better

[–] TheAngryXennial@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Censorship is terrible this is such a slippery slope. What ever happened to change the channel or just not watch it if you don’t like it?

The only reason I could even think they would remove Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow is for one line where Randy, Gerald, and Stuart are walking through the town in their expedition gear and they think they have hypothermia because of how hot they are - Gerald suggests taking their clothes off to fight the hypothermia by cuddling naked together and Randy replies - "don't be a f*g".

cant think of a single thing otherwise that would get it possibly removed

[–] Krusty_Klown_Kollege@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's the best line in the episode, and one of my top favorite episodes. Didn't realize the word fag has to be censored nowadays. But why Cancelled and You got F'd in the A?

[–] Cinnamon__Sasquatch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the delivery is perfect and the situation is so dumb, i love it

who knows yo, reddit moderation is trigger happy so i prefer to not have to bother with them and just use an * every now and then

Simpsons Did It is one of my favorites why would they remove it?

[–] thomasmfd@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's p c If you find error cardments or offensive, i'm surprised they hadn't decided to put Is making a trick lame and gay

But they did *

Almost all were removed because of threats made by Muslim extremists over the depiction of Muhammad. Most only aired a single time on TV, and most, if not all streaming services that play/played host to South Park have never had them available.

You can, however, watch them on the home releases. They're all there in the box sets, which I'm happy to own.

In fact, Paramount has some nice box sets, which are the ones I bought. S1-5, S6-10, S11-15, S16-20, S21-25. That's how the box sets are split. The specials aren't included in the regular season sets, but they are available as well.

This sort of sounds like an ad, but it's more about the importance of physical media. They can't censor what's sitting on my shelf.

[–] Ok_Pomegranate_2895@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

they've always said that they haven't done an episode they don't stand behind, so i don't know why those would be removed. it's probably not up to them, though

[–] ArchdruidHalsin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean, they did walk back their first Al Gore episode considerably.

Not that I think any of these episodes need to be walked back. But I do think Matt and Trey acknowledge they are as fallible as anyone else and aren't too proud to change their position if they later feel they had it wrong.

[–] Ok_Pomegranate_2895@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

what happened with the first al gore episode? was it not manbearpig?

[–] joelingo111@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Canada moment

[–] Orphan_With_Cancer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

At this rate, every South Park episode will be banned to the point of no show at all.

fuck it i’m buying dvds

[–] TollyVonTheDruth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I could see why the woke butthurt crowd would remove all but one. I don't know what they would deem as "offensive" in Simpson's Already Did It.

Interestingly they are still on MAX in the US

[–] RhoemDK@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because they don't think it'll cost them money

[–] STEALTH_Moles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm surprised Ms.Garrison's Fancy new Vagina didn't get cancelled

[–] Vexoly@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you've got some time to kill ask Paramount themselves.

The people who'd have it removed are better at whining than the people that just want to be treated as adults. Or better still, cancel and let them know why.

[–] GodIsNotAiveChild@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The fuck is wrong with Simpsons Already Did It? Isn’t that one of the more Vanilla episodes of the show?

[–] Pleasant-Ticket3217@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean if they were taking episodes down for political reasons they have better selections than these. Who the hell knows. This is a random selection of episodes. It’s most likely just a rights issue. That’s the problem with streaming.

[–] ninecher@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This honestly really sucks! Ginger Cow is one of my faves.

[–] HillanatorOfState@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Always thought big gay Al episode was about accepting gay people, that episode comes off pro gay. Why remove that one(not that any of these should be removed).

Because youre in Canada and they are becoming crazier and crazier about what you can say or make fun of

[–] Outrageous-War-6899@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wow seriously. Unbelievable.

[–] wontholdthedoor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don't really care. There are tons of classics that ARE streaming. Not everything is a conspiracy.

[–] Ok-Astronaut4952@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would lose my shit if they got rid of f’ed in the A. One of my all time favorites

[–] fusionaddict@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because Canada hates fun.

[–] Araeylan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Blame Canada! 🎶 Blame Canada!

[–] block_star@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pretty sure all these are on Pluto

[–] Snortablecocain@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Idk man, it's just time to pirate shit again

[–] Party_Fig_8270@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because Canada

[–] Jakkerak@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Christians.

[–] Moocow115@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It all comes down to bigotry. Big Gay Al doesn't tow the party line so he's not allowed to be gay.

[–] beepbeepimmmajeep@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is why I buy them all on dvd/blu-ray and rip them to my server.

[–] mindlessdigits@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

as a bisexual, big gay al being missing from even one persons south park binge will ruin the rest of my week😭

[–] Maxy772@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nobody was even offended…

[–] Whoopsy_Doodle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Because of the wimpy kiddy baby whiners.
