We almost sent a WHITE MAN to jail for a crime he didn’t commit!

[–] Punkrocker80@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wait.... No.... This is a false alarm. These are all left hands.

And let's not forget, this guy is so dedicated to his job, he once married a drug dealer just to arrest him

[–] pathfinderoursaviour@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

He also let college guys run a train on his ass so the dudes committed to his job

[–] Punkrocker80@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Oh hell yeah. He takes undercover work incredibly seriously

Marry me Yolanda. We'll move to a little chateau in Switzerland and get away from all of this.

OH KESHAWN!!!!

Butter's Kissing Company was damn near a perfect episode.

But sometimes, they take the absurdity so far that it breaks the joke and becomes less funny for it.

Sergeant Yates marrying his pimp and moving to Switzerland was just stupid and not funny. But up until that point, the sex "stings" were absolutely hilarious. It also was so divergent from the main story, that they had to retcon it away as though it never happened.

South Park has a tendency to do this. They have a fantastic running joke and they have to keep on raising the absurdity until it "breaks".

Harrison Yates is one of the best characters

[–] touchrubfeels@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Whose in charge here? Not anymore you’re not.

[–] Auron-Hyson@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

half of them didn't even use a condom! don't you know of all the sick diseases you can get?!

[–] TrayusV@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Well, Barbrady was fired from the police department then ended up working for the feds against ads.

So I assume he's still a government agent.

[–] officialdougjudy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

That's my thinking. Maybe an independent consultant that the feds send a 1099 to or something. Just so long as his dog can get the meds she needs, that's all that matters.

[–] FamilyFan69@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I wish he was still a cop

Agreed 100%.

Barbrady was just a stupid oaf from the era before South Park's clever social commentary.

Yates, is actually a pretty clever caricature of a cop and tends to behave and think a lot more like they actually do IRL.

They fully sold me on Yates on the episode where he goes undercover for sex stings.

[–] barbrady123@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

i...I like him...

no wait, that's subtraction

[–] LostInStatic@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Whoever the ginger cop is who replaced him is x10 funnier than him so I didnt mind

[–] Bluejay_turtle@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I do think the new cop is funnier and just the new police station in general. But I'm one of those people that tends to not love the first three seasons the way other people do. I appreciate it, and obviously the nostalgia involved... But I think the show became a lot funnier starting around season 4 or 5 .

Matt and tray don't really like the first three seasons either

He’s a sheriff, so he doesn’t work for the SPPD. As someone stated, he got fired, but sheriffs in Colorado are elected and are therefore unfireable. South Park proper is generally purple leaning blue, but Park county as a whole is generally red. He’s likely still a Park County official, especially if he’s a Garrison supporter. Another comment points out he’s still working for the feds, so he might be a DoJ asset or something similar. Regardless, he has probably been introduced to high levels of power in Washington, which would likely augment his ability to generate campaign contributions and bolster his capacity to carry the votes necessary for his position.

[–] Trowj@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s probably out there framing black men, doing solid cop work

[–] DisastrousLecture648@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He hasn't really been used much at all for a long time now. My guess would just be that they're trying to slowly replace the old characters with newer ones. For example, Principal Victoria, Ms. Crabtree, and Mrs choksondik.

[–] DontDieCuriouz@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Whats wrong with Principal Victoria

[–] funked1@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He was a damn fine caaaaahp.

[–] YogurtWenk@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

T. T is for turtle.

[–] Deion313@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Didn't he give up the badge and gun, cuz he didn't wanna shoot anymore kids...

He came back for a special mission against ads, but I thought he was retired with his dog now...

[–] erikturczyn30@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS MOVE ALONG

[–] Affectionate-Dig1981@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

My theory was always that he went into a dark place after he learnt to read and read about the world and the people in it and will one day return, innocence lost, full of hate and more powerful than ever.

[–] ConflictSudden@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Do you mean officer Buttbaby?

[–] mantistoboggan69md@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

It’s easy to forget how old South Park is, like this show started when Clinton was in office. I think when Matt and Trey started the show they didn’t need much from a police officer character, just someone who shows up says a few goofy lines and is done.

Nowadays I think the way policing is done is a more prevalent issue in our society (or at least there’s more disagreement over how it should be done). I think Matt and Trey just needed a character who they can do more with and who fits the needs of today better. Like how they replaced Victoria with PC Principal, or even just the way Randy Marsh’s character has developed the last few years.

[–] DeathTheSoulReaper@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Barbrady was fired because everyone finally had enough of his stupidity

[–] Far-Standard4374@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Poor barbrady, they made him shoot a bunch of kids at the towns behest and than just got rid of the poor bastard

[–] ps2man41@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s out there saving our world from ads, god bless him.

[–] Bluejay_turtle@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

They had an episode where they sort of played around with him being an old part of the show that's not really relevant.

Naughty ninjas.
