What do people use to get music off of their CDs and into their music library? I know a lot of people download music, and as much as I would love to set it up, I would like to get started on what I already have.

So it's been a while since I last ripped CDs to my music library and I know things have changed so I wanted to reach out and see what people were using and if there was any self hosted solutions out there that would do a quality job.

I had Navidrome set up and working with my old collection of music, but like I said, I had downloaded and ripped most of that back in the 2000s so most of it isn't great quality. Let me know if there's any good solutions out there and if it would even be feasible to try and self host something.

Windows = Exact Audio Copy (EAC)

MacOS = X Lossless Decoder (XLD)

If youre looking for software with GUI, EAC is considered Gold Standard but not available for Linux. I can recommend FRE:AC though, works very well!

EAC (Exact Audio Copy). Best program for that I've ever found.

Fre:ac for both Windows and Linux
