Looking to spend ~$100-150 on a decent starter watch. Preference for something with a minimalistic face and leather strap.

Found this sub through an online review on MVMT and found out they are relatively poorly regarded and quality (despite strong marketing). Was hoping for some other simple suggestions.

Bonus points for any Black Friday suggestions as well.

Thank you :)

Momentum has 20% off right now, not exactly minimal but some nice field watches

Look at Seiko 5’s. Lots of great options

Personally for such a tight budget I’d look at some Aliexpress watches. Zero brand recognition/heritage but you can find good specs/design for the money. Do some research so you don’t buy anything super shitty. Either way will be better than mvmt

Dont hate me, but im going to say it. Invicta. Let me explain. LoL

They are right there in your budget. They have a nice weight to them. The automatics have the same movement as some seiko's. There are soooooo many options. They make SOME really nice looking watches. You're not going to impress watch snobs with any of the mentioned watches. Even orient is considered cheap. If you're buying them for you and not an investment, you should just get what you want and what you like. These are going to be your first few watches (whatever you get) and if you're not used to wearing a watch, you're going to scratch the hell outta it. You're going to get it dirty. It's going to be rough.

Invicta coppies allot of classic watches, but they do t hide the fact that they are an invica. They usually say it all over the watch.

Accuracy? Forget about mech watches. My smart watch is far more accurate and consistent than any mech watch out there. Even a $20 digital casio from walmart is more consistent than a rolex.

If it's your first watch and you want it to be an everyday watch get a quartz warch or even better a solar/eco-drive quartz watch. They are much more accurate, more robust and with a solar one you don't need to change batteries every 2-3 years either.

If you are in the US you could take a look at the officialwatchdeals store on ebay and get a citizen eco-drive you like from there there are plenty of styles to choose from.

Here's one of the stiletto models. It's on the smaller/classic side and it's also ultrathin.

Here's another with a more modern size (41mm) that's minimalist in design but it has an integrated bracelet meaning you need to have a custom leather strap made for it if you want to replace the bracelet. Same with this blue one.

Here's another minimalist design but with the same type of bracelet and just like this other one that comes on a strap these are not the easiest to read.

You can also find some chronos like this one or this one. These also have integrated bracelets.

There's a gold minimalist one too on a brown leather strap.

Also look for coupons on the product page, some might have extra % off coupons.
