The musical episodes in The Magicians were all bangers too.
It's more of a "breaks the flow of the show" kinda thing more than the songs themselves for me
Not when it's Buffy. It fit right in.
Buffy and scrubs are the only two where it was good and worked and made sense in the show. Star Trek strange new worlds has tried to follow that, with making the story make sense to have singing, but it’s just cringey.
The Buffy one was pretty good

It's possibly the only good example.
I still can sing at least two songs of that episode by heart. I made the teens of the family watch it too and we've agreed that LET ME REST IN PEACE is the best song^^

Same, they're often some of my favorite episodes, not just because I like musicals.
- Writing one often requires much more planning and effort
- Seeing how they creatively shoehorned the reason for it being a musical episode is always fun (e.g. Scrubs, Star Trek Discovery)
- Some certified bangers
Hail the Klingons Ohura!
all right that was pretty much the best part of that episode
I was mad the whole episode except when they mentioned it was affecting the Klingons, and basically finished the episode in the hopes that they would show that.
And it more than paid off. That scene was magical.
As hilarious and peak as it was, that shot of Sam digging it is what really kills me every time

Also Futurama, though the "musical" episodes there tend to be only a single song.
How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back is a masterpiece though.
Yeah see that worked cause it was the gang throwing a musical, but actual musical episodes like the gang turning black, those I dislike.
Futurama had a couple bangers both Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back and, of course, The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings

The Psych musical episode songs are so catchy they still randomly get stuck in my head

Maybe I should give them another try but I tend to skip musicals even when it comes to my favorite show, Psych
I hate actual musicals, but generally like musical episodes of TV shows, like Scrubs and Community both have good ones.
Except American Dad!
Having people who can actually sing helps so much.
They have such insanely good music taste on that show. It's always stuff you'd never think to use, too, but it fits every time.
Once More, With Feeling (Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6 episode 7) was the greatest episode of any show on TV ever. 😤
