Phone, camera, Laptop, laptop case/cover, good quality backpack, chargers & adapters for each place you are going (or a universal adapter), noise cancelling headphones, shower shoes, padlock.
I also prefer to have the following, but wouldn’t say they’re a must: your own pillow case, ear plugs (if you are staying in hostels or noisy cities), poncho, travel journal (fun to write about the places you go or have new friends sign it along the way!)
A smart LED bulb that I can change the colors with. So many places have lighting I don't like. It's nice to be able to just set it the warmth, color and brightness of my preference.
Ok besides the obvious,
Lighter and rolling papers of course
Tongue Scraper
Good underwear, lightweight/quality material clothing (I have some Vuori stuff, looking to get more and just only carry that cause it doesn’t really get nasty as fast as regular cotton, washes, dries, folds up easier too)
Little packet of tissues, or even just a couple napkins
WATER BOTTLE OMG
Pen and paper, even just a little piece of scrap paper I always keep at least on Sharpie on deck too
Sunglasses - consistently one of the absolute most helpful things ever while out and about.
My tech pouch, any cord I have lives in one place
Tiny cross body bag, can clear out all pockets on my person if needed and just provides an immediately accessible storage
Headphones, AirPods are badass and some backup wired buds too
I know people love back packs, but I swear by my roll on luggage with the zip right in the middle. You can open and see all of your stuff. No more emptying the whole bag to find that one thing that's hiding at the bottom.
Clarity!
Any good portable stands for a standing desk I can put in my checked bag? Otherwise, I'll try to find boxes. Weight isn't an issue, just needs to pack down correctly.
In no specific order.
- Charging station for electronics (can provide a link if you want)
- Our Phones for maps, Google Translate, and family contact
- Laptops for work and editing videos/Photos
- Noise-canceling headphones for loud planes, trains and workspaces (I prefer over-ear)
- We have AirTags in anything that will hold one just in case something walks off we can track it
We get Priority Pass as a CC perk and it makes long layovers or layovers in general a lot more comfortable.
Laptop
For Latin America I would say a Grayl water filter bottle is a must-have. Unfortunately I lost mine on the way home after my first trip with it, but I immediately bought another one. It's $100, but definitely worth it when tap water isn't safe. Also great for long walks during the day that may have a waterfall/stream.
