Considering all the recent stuff about payment processors and censorship, this sure is a choice.

I wish they'd put some effort into actually improving their user experience.

Like for example the fact that artists can send messages out to all their subscribers but messages are only viewable from within the app, there is no way to access the message system on a browser. Why!? This has been a bugbear of mine amongst other stuff for going on 10 years now.

Fuck teenage artists or anyone who don't have a bank account i guess

Glad to see they’re not cutting off artists in countries not supported by Stripe.

Faircamp is a great option for hosting yourself and Bandwagon is also federated. Both are free and open source and both have 'label' functionality, which means that a single computer-person can host many artists, in the same way as any other online music platform does but without the exploitation and cultural degradation.

In fact, if any other musicians reading this want to form a cooperative and share hosting and maintenance costs and desicion-making let me know. I've already been through the setup process myself with Faircamp. It would be cheap and have the same functionality as Bandcamp.

This is incredibly disappointing. My hope is Subvert gets off the ground soon, and that they also offer a good choice of payment options.

Soon, fans will be able to check out in a single transaction, even when buying from multiple artists or labels, reducing friction and helping more purchases go through.

Neat. My bank currently charge an international payment fee per transaction with Bandcamp, so I avoid small purchases from different artists, and wait until an artist release multiple albums/EPs to purchase from them.
