Now that we have a few new teams (aside Detroit) taking up the mantle of worst in the league, it is interesting to look at another crop of young players being maligned for their inefficiency.

Last year, there were some talk of Shaedon Sharpe as a more promising SG prospect due to his efficiency, now that the situation as worsened in Portland, Sharpe’s numbers are dragging behind even Jalen Green’s rookie numbers.

We see a similar story playing out in early comparisons between Chet — who has the fortune of playing for a very good team — and Wemby.

Just think we should try to make more of a point to factor in these environments when talking about players.

same time this sub learns that slumps exist, good players have bad games, and that basketball is a game of runs.

that is to say: never.

Managed to go 2 paragraphs without bringing up Chet/Wemby. Nice.

The whole concept of “empty stats” is that they’re easy to accumulate on a bad team that’s not super focused on winning and will let their star kinda do whatever because they want to keep them around.

Us being bad sure hasn’t stopped Lauri from being crazy efficient.

Lauri’s also a vet though. I’m talking about young players still trying to find their footing in the league.
