What would be potential issues with my remote first company? (alien.top)

Hi everyone, I’m fairly new to this lifestyle and community. I’m currently back in the US but I just spent 4 months exploring Mexico and Guatemala and it was awesome! A week after I arrived back home I got an email from my CEO asking for my return date as “anything longer than 6 months will need approval and might cause business and tax issues”.

I’m young and dumb and confused on why? My guess is that they thought I was in Mexico the entire time and you can only stay on a tourist visa for 6 months?

Thoughts? Leaving in the new year again and now a little worried to tell my manager my travel plans

You're likely going to run into issues down the road if you already haven't with your company.
