So! Here's the thing, I'm Brazilian. Most of the references about the US government and American celebrities go straight over my head and I find myself skipping bits of a lot of episodes that are mostly focused on those. I DO intend on watching the whole show from beginning to end at some point, I'm just really excited about the characters right now so I'm enjoying the ones where they're just being stupid little things.

Episodes like The List, Guitar Queer-O, Clubhouses, Make Love, Not Warcraft and etc. Recommendations of ones focused on Wendy and the other kids are also appreciated!

Fun Times with Weapons, Pandemic 1 & 2, the Magic Bush, basically any episode with Craig for some reason. I also love the episodes centered around the goth kids like Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers, but I worry that a lot of the jokes wouldn't land with people who aren't involved with the goth scene.

Little crime stoppers, death of Eric cartman, peepee episode, camp tardicaca episode

[–] Marswolf01@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Little Crime Stoppers is my favorite episode

“Help, my teenager hates me!” is a good recent episode that focuses on the boys being frustrated with obnoxious teenagers while playing airsoft. It’s a really funny episode that shows the boys acting like the kids they are supposed to be.

[–] Punkrocker80@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Well they're kind of acting more like parents to those damn teenagers but it's a great episode nonetheless

[–] Hutch25@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Another good one is the recent one where they start that hotdog store. It has a serious message behind it, but it’s pretty fun.

I am American and agree non-political eps are better

Coon and friends trilogy is peak south park

[–] tucakeane@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

“Casa Bonita” and “Return of the Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers”

[–] Jub1982@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The first 12 seasons

[–] zilch839@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If the show left politics alone, well, I would have left the show 20 years ago.

Trey Parker for President.

Some recommendations:

The Tooth Fairy’s Tats 2000, Cartman joins NAMBLA, the Wacky Molestation Adventure, Towelie, Cartmanland, Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers, Toilet Paper, Casa Bonita, Good Times with Weapons, Pre-school, the Death of Eric Cartman, Marjorine, Free Willzyx.

[–] mac4112@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fun Times with Weapons is an absolute must watch.

The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers is also a must watch and imo the best episode in the whole series.

[–] Robert_Balboa@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

My favorite episode of all time is butters bottom bitch

No politics in that one

[–] gaypornaccount1996@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Butters Bottom Bitch

The F Word

Christian Rock Hard

First episodes that come to mind, but honestly most of the very early seasons focus on the boys and just crack jokes

[–] 4got2takemymeds@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Honestly the first 15 seasons or so.

There are more non-political episodes than there are political ones. Especially in those seasons

If I had to pick a peak season though I would pick either season 12 or season 13.

They're both hilarious from first episode to last but I would recommend 13 over 12 because that's the first introduction to Coon and friends(which is about is as apolitical as you're going to get), the WTF wrestling episode, the queef sisters, Dead Celebrities, Fat-Beard (Somali pirates) and Butters bottom bitch.

It's one of my favorite seasons and I think everything up through season 15 is more silly than political but after you get into the more recent seasons you start to see more involvement because of the political nature of the world.

One of the great things about South Park and the six Days to air method of how they produce and come up with these episodes makes them first in line to get on top of current events, and with everything they've got to choose from in the past few years their cups runneth over.

So they've got to fine-tune what they think will be more receptive to the audience and I think that's really difficult to do right now because of the way the world is and that's why you see specials like the Panderverse, The COVID-19 specials etc. I mean they're touching on all the big issues that are going on in the country and the world to a lesser extent. So it's kind of hard for them not to be more political as the show ages. People are becoming more divided by politics and are more involved in politics than ever, whether it's in good faith or ignorance, they're there.

So they're giving the audience what they want, if you will.

Imaginationland; Game of Thrones (play station vs xbox)

[–] EffectivePrior4414@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Cartmanland. Who hasn't wanted to own their own theme park? I also always liked Cat Orgy and Two Guys in a Hot Tub personally

[–] lucky7hockeymom@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I like the one where the boys are playing police detectives.

[–] Prof_Tickles@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Krazy Kripples

Butters Bottom Bitch

The Losing Edge.

Make Love, Not Warcraft

[–] IHaveNoUsernameSorry@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bebe’s boobs destroy society

[–] Reasonable-Simple706@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most of seasons 6 - 9 tbh. That’s what the bread and butter was. The Satire and parody was still there but these stories were far more of the norm

[–] LalalisaOppar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

good times with weapons is a good one

[–] ScuzzyUltrawide@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Woodland Critter Christmas and Good Times with Weapons are currently my two favorite episodes of all time.

Honorable mention to HUMANCENTiPAD, but you have to watch the real movie "human centipede" first.

[–] dothebork@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Losing Edge!

[–] Blamecanada2021@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Gotta watch Krazy kripples

[–] JQuick72@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Cartmanland.

[–] SynthSapphire@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The first 5 seasons or so are almost completely like that and those are my favorite, honestly. There is some nostalgia mixed in for me because I grew up with the show but you should absolutely try the early seasons for that type of vibe. There will be a decent amount of religious jabbing and social commentary but not relentless political commentary like modern seasons.

A lot of the old episodes have period-specific pop culture references that definitely won't be as funny for you, unfortunately, but based on your description I would strongly recommend episodes like:

  • S2E17 - "Gnomes"
  • S3E4 - "Jakovasaurs"
  • S5E6 - "Cartmanland"
[–] Supreme_Lord_Cola@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jakovasaurs was a funny episode and I'm sick of pretending it isn't

[–] Whitechedda1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Let's Fighting Love

[–] SeeMackk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fat butt n Pancake head, Major Boobage, Cock Magic, Magic Bush, City Sushi, Bass To Mouth, Broadway Bro Down, Elementary School Musical, Terrance n Phillip Movie Trailer, Terrance n Phillip Behind the Blow, Canada on Strike, Freemium isn’t Free, Butterballs, Butters Bottom Bitch

[–] OkDesigner3696@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Where they think the girls have a device that can see the future and send Butters dressed up as a girl at the sleepover. The ones where it's all the kids together are my favorites lol.

[–] Shanobian@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fun time with weapons

[–] Stonna@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Cartmans safe space

[–] helixflush@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] JakeArvizu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The first Towelie episode is pretty funny because the whole episode they are trying to wrap the boys into some larger plot and they literally do not care.

Earth Cancelled is another just original plot episode.

[–] siliconevalley69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Free Willzyx is the best episode of the show and is super ridiculous.

[–] donta5k0kay@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

what show were you watching? free willzyx is the most savage deconstruction of the liberal worldview television has ever seen

[–] siliconevalley69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well now I gotta rewatch it just to be sure.

[–] donta5k0kay@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No! That’s just a reference to Scroty McBoogerBalls

[–] GuyIncognito461@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lil Crimestoppers. The Losing Edge (though it's a Randy episode as much as the kids). Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy (a little dated given the brief fad of Dog the bounty hunter). Marjorine (Butters). Casa Bonita.

[–] peculiar-pirate@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Mexican Tree Frog of Southern South Sri Lanka is a great one

[–] EmergencyFun1314@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Every episode is political

[–] mellowfellow261@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Toilet Paper (S7), Pee (S13), Breast Cancer Show Ever (S12), Lice Capades (S11), Cartmanland (S5), Red Sleigh Down (S6), The Losing Streak (S9), Tsst (S10), Broadway Bro Down (S15) just to name some

[–] Mysterious-Simple805@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Awesome-O is one of my favorites. Cartman tricks Butters into thinking he's a robot.

[–] One_Cell1547@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pretty much anything season 18 and before is they boys shenanigans. There’s a few random political episodes throughout the entirety of the show.. but they weren’t super common before trump

[–] Ssider69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Marjorine is my "go-to". Just the kids mistaking a girls'game for a supernatural power. And then somehow getting a NASA level containment facility.
