I can't explain it. Just their honest thoughts and their naive usage of my app gave me valuable data to improve it further. I definitely plan to implement the improvements in my app, but what I have never experienced before is the gratification from seeing a user on my app, enjoying it, providing feedback or commentary, and then myself experiencing happiness from it. It makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing and going in the right direction. That even though development may take months or more, this goal is achievable, and with the help of users it may be the best piece of software I've ever created!

A bit of background, I'm a career software developer who is making his first app outside of a 9-5.

I just wanted to express this in this community.

Honestly, thrilled for you! People bang on about money, and yes it’s important. But there is also real joy in getting stuff out in the world and seeing how people respond. Try your app with more test users, it will spur you on.

Congratulations, this is an incredible achievement. Out of curiosity was this someone you onboarded to the app purely for testing purposes? Or did the user convert expecting a production version.

I ask because I too have just got my first app on the app store and have been getting some users and some have even paid, but I have not been able to get much feedback from them. Have even reached out to some via email.

Still nothing. So interms of features and improvements I am mostly going blind based on usage data

This was someone I knew personally and I asked him to try out the app and right in front of me so I got feedback right away

Sounds awesome, yes it it definitely such a milestone to have your creation be tested in the hands of a user. Hope the feedback was constructive 🙌🏽

Yes, that is true happiness.

But remember don't jump into solutions what your users say all the time.

You need to list down all the features your users are asking for, prioritize them, analyze them, and then start building.

You need to avoid Feature Creep as a young entrepreneur. Good luck.

Awesome news my friend, get some random and concentrated feedback. Reuse the same set of people until you are ready to release it. I am publishing my APP after testing this week too. Wish you the best!
