The Clippers are now 4-7 since trading for Harden, or 0-1 in his "ready" state.

Memes aside, he was okay this game, but okay isn't good enough when you're with a fully healthy Clippers vs a Reggie Jackson-led Nuggets.

Harden isn't exactly playing terribly as a Clippers, but at this point in his career, it's hard to justify an offence-first player on a team as offensively stacked as the Clippers when they're in desperate need of some more off-ball movement.

Harden is looking to secure a max extension, we'll have to see what kind of contract he can muster as he gets more into game shape as the season progresses.

The System^TM is still updating. This may take several months/years/eons. Please do not turn off your computer during this update.

When does Daryl Morey get his r/nba apology for drawing a line in the sand and not giving him a max contract? Lost a friendship over it but did what was best for his franchise.

Glad this guy is my GM.

As a Sixers fan, I was ecstatic when the trade was made. We got a top quality bench (one of the big deficiencies in the last few years & one of the reasons for the playoff exits - basically 4 starters and one or two bench players meant we couldn’t compete deep into the playoffs), and two first round picks for a guy who is a malcontent and clearly in decline. I thought the Clippers were insane for making this trade. It should seem obvious that the reason Harden accepted the player option is that it was WAY more than anyone else was willing to pay him. His numbers will probably get better, but he is no longer even close to MVP (or All Star) Harden, and will likely decline from last year. I especially enjoy that his assist numbers are lower than both Embiid and Maxey, and even his rebounds are lower than Maxey. People have to stop rooting for names - players age and decline. I think about folks who would suggest we should have traded Maxey for Lillard, and how that would only make sense if you invented a Time Machine.

I also always disliked him as a numbers over wins guy. I sort of held my nose when we traded for him because getting anything for Simmons was a win at that point (I still laugh at the “experts” who at the time almost universally thought the Nets won that trade), but never felt great having to root for him on my team. So not only are we better without him, but a lot more fun and easy to root for. Sorry for you Clippers fans who are stuck with this dude - hopefully Balmer has some sense and cuts him loose at the end of the year.

PG2-13 getting a pass for playing terribly

I cannot believe Daryl Morey managed to get 2 solid role players on expiring contracts (Batum and Covington) plus multiple 1sts rounders AND got off the awful PJ Tucker deal for a guy who publicly shit on him. Generational heist

The Clippers should honestly just blow it all up and get back as many FRP as they can. Fielding this product another couple years is just delaying the inevitable. What dumb roster building fueled by Ballmer

Have we considered that maybe Harden just isn’t great anymore? He’s 34 and decline is inevitable.

He's not ever gonna get that max again

I feel like the Clippers have gotten the current version of the James Harden experience. He will make some very poor plays and have bad numbers some nights, he'll be kind of ok most of the time, then he'll have a game or two every so often when he reminds of us that he's still James Harden.

The issue is that 99% of the world realizes that the first two scenarios are what we get about 90% of the time now. James Harden is not in that 99%, which causes issues, because he could still be a GREAT pass-first PG if he just adapted his game to accommodate his physical limitations.
