I am a 14 year old new fan of south park. My mom was never happy about me watching it and would roll her eyes but didnt ban it or anything until i showed her the hell on earth 2006 episode. What do you think she banned it for? The scene where Jeffrey Dahhmer fucked someone guys intenstines which lasted for like 5 seconds. LIKE i understand being disgusted by it but ban me from watching it entirely? I dont get it. Like she listened to me watch it for AGES. Like there are things that would probably make her ban it from me like the Mr Garrison writing his romance novel. So yeah, i love and everything but she can be pretty ridiculous sometimes.

I was around 13. The episode where Mrs.Garrison is getting railed by the evolution teacher. My dad was not cool with that. Everything else South park had done up to that point was ok. lol

My mum used to let me watch family guy

When asked about south park, she just said

"Hell no."

She was an enigma sometimes

[–] Demonnugget@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The enigma fades away quite quickly if you actually compare the subject matter of the two shows. How often do people get murdered and raped in Family Guy?

[–] spacesluts@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not as often forsure but it does happen.

Family Guy has had a few rapes and a bunch of murders, though usually as part of a cutaway.

For fucks sake stewie killed lois and was subsequently killed by Peter by a shot to the chest.

I grew up Mormon, funny enough we could watch the Simpsons, but not Friends

I’d bet good money on the fact that she’s seen her fair share of South Park before u came along. Speaking bluntly there is stuff in that show that really no one under 18 needs to know about:hell I’m a very young whatever age I am and theres stuff on that show where I’m like:”…..yeah I don’t need to know about this”

There’s nothing wrong with preserving a little innocence

[–] BaziliskBanana_666@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My innocence was already ruined before. I did hear that the Band In China episode has a scene where George Lucas and the guy that made E.T rape Indiana Jones and it apparently means it's what they did to the franchise with some really bad movie?

Are you 9 or foreign or both?

[–] BakebeanMAN99@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I was allowed to watch it in 1998 I was 6 was never banned eventually me and my dad watched it all the time a new episode was on.

I wasn’t allowed to watch any show that made fun of Jesus when I was younger. They claimed it was “blasphemous” and it would be a bad influence on me. So they specifically prevented me from watching Family Guy and South Park. Also one of the reasons I wasn’t allowed to watch South Park was because my uncle beat the Stick of Truth and snitched to my mom about the abortion scene. So that was another reason why she didn't want me to watch South Park as she didn’t want me exposed to that either as she thought it would promote abortion to me. I remember the thrill on some nights waiting until my parents went to sleep so I could sneak onto Comedy Central and watch South Park. Good times

I bet they would love the Bloody Mary and the Easter Special episode!

South park is a pretty adult show, and I wouldn't blink twice at anyone not wanting their 14 year old to watch it.

At 14 you have very little context to the real world and its a coin flip to see if you are going to take it as intended or if you would start emulating it, and no one wants a little wannabe Cartman running around their house.

[–] BaziliskBanana_666@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don't wanna make you think I am lying or anything but I have a feeling I am like a better version of most Gen-Z kids. Like pretty nice and mature so hell no would I start emulating Cartman's behaviour. I would use his lines tho lol.

[–] thehighestdetective@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most kids I see are already there

[–] thehighestdetective@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wish very much my mom cared as much as yours does

[–] Emosmalldog@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I had a nightmare that Cartman’s mouth flew off and ate my dad’s face

Dude my parents made no fucking sense. I was born in 1983. I grew up watching the Friday the 13th movies, Nightmare on Elm Street, every Stephen King movie, Amytiville Horror movies, Poltergeist, etc.

But I couldn’t watch the Simpsons or anything Michael Jackson related. Parents thought Bart Simpson was a bad influence. With Michael Jackson, he grabbed himself in music videos and a concert video that was on VHS.

As I got older, it didn’t matter anymore. By 1995-96, I was able to watch the Simpsons, and by 1997, I was able to watch the premiere of South Park and parents never cared.

And my parents are cool as shit. They were always pretty laid back with a lot of things. I’ve made jokes to them about it over the years and they’re like ‘yeah, we were pretty dumb for doing that’

South Park is more educational than Disney for sure

In 1998 or so I was trying to look at a website "what Kenny says" which was blocked for content by my dad. I was 13/14 at the time. He later looked at the site I was trying to visit and banned me from watching the show, even though I tried to explain you can't understand what Kenny says...

[–] Shower_Slug@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I had friends who weren't allowed to watch the simpsons. Some parents were even more strict. At that age if my parents overheard that episode they would just say turn that shit off but wouldnt ban me from watching anything besides boobs and stuff. My advice is just watch it in private you'll be fine. Watch on your phone or on the Bus. I dunno your life.
