My wife is pregnant and I am planning on getting her a ladies datejust. I went to the jeweler that her family has always used as I know I will get a good deal.

They are reputable they are an AD for Omega and other SwatchGroup brands. But they aren’t a Rolex AD but have a large pre owned selection. When talking with staff I was told they could get any watch and any combination of dial/bezel and they could switch out a dial or bezel if she didn’t like the ones I selected.

I only have 1 luxury watch (Seamaster) so I’m unfamiliar with the Rolex games, but this seems slightly odd to me. Is this normal or is it likely they are all frankenwatches ?

That's not normal at all, Rolex will not service a watch that has been.... frankened. They're attempting to sell you unserviceable watches by RSC, I would not buy from there.

She ain’t going to wear it for a long time. Moms with newborns are banging into objects all the time. It’ll have more desk diving marks than a watch used for dishwashing on a restaurant kitchen. Or plumbing.

She doesn’t need to wear it while nursing, lol, she can just as well keep it in the drawer for special occasions.

It's not a franken watch. It's a sales tactic. You can swap dials at Rolex service and pay a lot of money to do so but Its legit. They just want to sell what they have.

It's cheaper to just buy the watch you want and not worry about swapping.

I would go to an ad. Ladies watches are not that hard to get and for a fancy gift try getting it new. You might be able to say the timeline and see what they can do.

Or if you find a better deal get a good used one from a reputable dealer.
