And so far, Quickley has made the Knicks’ inaction look silly. His production and impact has been so good that he might play his way into the starting lineup, a $30 million annual contract, and maybe an entirely different locker room.

Through 16 games, Quickley is averaging a career-high 15.9 points on 50.5 percent shooting from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the arc. He's also reeled in 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists while continually being one of the team's most impactful defenders in just 25 minutes per night.

Per-36 minutes, he’d be producing at a 23-5-5 line with plus defense, a feat that can be matched by only a handful of guards in the league.

Given how many games he’s closed for the Knicks this season and prior, it’s safe to say he’s no bench novelty, but one of the best two-way guards in basketball.

I think the bigger story here is how has Thibbs not been fired?

Dude plays Quick 25 minutes, plays Julius 39 minutes.

Jules is 2 x all nba and the only PF on the roster

IQ isn’t a starting pg

Quickley, Maxey, Simons, Herro, Poole

Who has the highest ceiling of the bunch? I know my answer👀

This is why I’m glad Orlando already extended Anthony. Quickley is likely getting 90m for 4 years while I’m enjoying our 6th man getting $37m for 3 years.

IQ was always gonna get more than someone like Cole Anthony tho, IQ is much more efficient and is a better defender. Not to mention but IQ has proven to be a great starter when given the opportunity.

Ok we’ll go by this step by step

IQ is much more efficient

Cole Anthony’s TS last year was 57%. Quickley’s was 57.8%

is a better defender

Debatable especially with Cole’s advanced stats being higher and playing for one of the top defenses in the league

proven to be a great starter

Cole Anthony has 103 and Quickley has 27

Great job conveniently leaving out that Cole Anthony has two seasons with a TS% under 52%

Yep just go ahead and act like IQ doesn’t also play on one of the best defensive teams in the league and looking at advanced stats, IQ has been a much more prominent perimeter defender for his career than Cole Anthony has.

And what did IQ do in those 27 games compared to Cole’s 103? This alone makes him worth way more since you can either start him or make him your sixth man. Not a lot of players have that flexibility and can allow teams to create more versatile lineups on a game to game basis.

imagine having Brunson and then Quickley off the bench. God what I would give to have a good backup PG

[–] TheRealRemyClayden@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We suffered in PG hell for this we deserved it

Elfrid Payton had me missing Jarrett Jack and his 5.6 apg

[–] ImanShumpertplus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

fat ray felton was nice too

[–] SilotheGreat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Felton was the last good PG we had prior to JB

[–] fmxda@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jeremy Lin (for a while)

I've wanted quickley for like three years now.

Too bad Knicks are allergic to trading with us.

[–] lopea182@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Unless bird rights are no longer a thing, I think it’s pretty safe to say he will be a Knick for the foreseeable future.

[–] tapk69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He gone. Spurs, Bulls, Pistons will throw max contracts

Pistons

The last thing the Pistons need is another ball handler.

Spurs

This is a good prediction. Quickley would be an excellent addition, for Wemby.

[–] everyoneneedsaherro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not sure why the Pistons would. They’re already developing 2 guards (one is certain to be their future in Cade and the other they need playing time to figure out if he is with Ivey) and Ausur can play the 2 as well and he’s 100% in their plans. Pistons need someone to fill in their 4 spot they’re good otherwise long term

I don't see a jump from last year, his stats are virtually the same. 15.9 vs 14.9 PPG last year, 53.1 vs 53.7 eFG%, 0.375 vs 0.370 3-pt. Per 36 number may look a bit better since his minutes are down a bit, but this is small sample size.

Frankly, Knicks should be able to resign him in the $15-20M range. He is a great 6th man, but I am not sure he'd be a starter on a top-6 team, not unless he shows more. His options will be limited because most of the offers will be at the mid-level, I am not sure that teams with salary cap room will be willing to shell it out for him.

[–] Sparrow_Wilson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lol he's getting 25-30 at this rate

[–] ap98cfr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

honestly could see the Sixers going after him pretty hard this offseason depending on how the rest of the year shakes out

he's a pretty ideal on-court fit with Maxey (plus defender, good shooter, can handle the ball and run the offense when Maxey sits) and they're still close from their time at Kentucky

also obviously fits with Maxey's timeline

[–] Goatlikejordan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He's gonna get more than 15-20

[–] lunykirimi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lotsa money fer Quickley! Lookin like he's gonna make the Knicks regret not doin' more. Dude's puttin up some serious numbers, especially for a bench guy. Might even end up startin and gettin that big fat paycheck. Show 'em what ya got, Quickley!

[–] abarthsimpson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It’s crazy that 16 3.4 and 3.1 are big contract numbers nowadays.

When you factor in his efficiency and how great he is on defense you understand why he’s getting paid.

[–] everyoneneedsaherro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Keep in mind he’s only getting 25 minutes per game because Thibedou is an idiot
