The Princess Bride, animated Robin Hood, Hunt for the Wilderpeople

And the exact opposite for a terrifying winter movie, Pontypool (Canadian zombies with a twist) & 30 days of night.

These are really good and very family friendly suggestions.

Edit: except I wouldn't have kids watch Pontypool (it is great, but not for young ones).

Moana

I usually watch old blockbusters in the summer

Good one, Moana definitely fits that bill.

Well any animated kid flick from Disney or Pixar, right? Or Wallace & Grommit bit a la Chicken Run.

Would you count adult movies like Blast from the Past or Under the Tuscan Sun/ Letters to Juliette (these are interchangable)? Or are we looking for kid-friendly flicks? I'm not sure either of the ones I mentioned are summer-y or if it is just that the locales are known for sun.

Silly/Dumb? Maybe Summer Rental or The Great Outdoors (cuz John Candy doc is coming up).
Gay positive? Fire Island with Bowen Yang or Booksmart.
Pot friendly? Maybe the 90s Ice Cube classic Friday or Chappelle's Half-Baked .

You could go back in time and pick any Annette Funicello 'Beach' flick. Or Grease, or ...not my favorite, but Bonjour Tristesse is the Otto Preminger version of that book (there are also other movie versions). For a sexy but complicated relationship film, maybe try The Dreamers.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I was looking for both adult and kid-friendly movies, so this is a good list!
