Hello all,

I have a Festina Automatic watch with Miyota movement, for over 2 years now. For a while now there are times that the watch suddenly begins vibrating vigorously and then stops. I think it is releasing all its power in one go, but during the vibrations the seconds hand keeps a normal rate. I tried looking online but couldn't find anything regarding this issue. Has anyone experienced something like this and, if so, how did you solve it?

Ya, I suppose the mainspring could be rapidly releasing tension. I suggest taking it to a watch repair shop and have them look at it.

The main spring is inside a little barrel. The outside end of the spring is only “stuck” to the outside of this barrel with some “viscous oil” (so if you over wind it can slip and not break). Sounds like this oil has “gone”. And allows the spring to unravel.
A service would fix this.
