Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media. Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the primary mod account @EuroMod@feddit.org

"America is blessed with ... the strongest friendships ..."

That was probably true at some point. He definitely fucked that up.

"Four months in a row, the number of illegal aliens admitted and entering our country has been zero"

Is that like how he stopped the spread of covid by ending the testing?

"In a period of just seven months, I have ended seven ‘un-endable’ wars"

Which 'un-endable wars' did he end? I can't think of any peace where he played a significant role.

"Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize"

JFC...

"I’m telling you that if you don’t get away from the ‘green energy’ scam, your country is going to fail. If you don’t stop people that you’ve never seen before that you have nothing in common with, your country is going to fail."

I'm just going to repeat my last statement: JFC...

If anything, his willful ignorance is going to make everyone fail.

"The entire globalist concept of asking successful, industrialized nations to inflict pain on themselves and radically disrupt their entire societies must be rejected completely and totally — and it must be immediate."

That is actually right... Stop the effing fossil fuel consumption!

"Together, let us defend free speech and free expression. Let us protect religious liberty, including for the most persecuted religion on the planet today — it’s called Christianity."

I think that is Islam. There are 1.8 billion Muslims, and the hate they receive from many is way greater than the crimes that the few commit. A lot of people also forget the circumstances that many immigrants came from, and underestimate the effect that the hate has on people over time. Jobs are harder to find in western countries if you look like a Muslim for instance, and of course that shows in the crime statistics.

For the record, I'm a blond Danish atheist.

He did something in the Pakistan-India crisis, but that was a conflict, not an un-endable war. Other than that I can't think of anything where he played a role.

Lol, no he didn't. He just said he did.

About those wars, didn’t he promise to end the one going on in Ukraine? Still waiting…

He did also promise to end it on day one.

Let me count.....

Yeah, he had more than enough time to end it on day one.

My fake news filter filters whitehouse.gov.

Which is funny, sad and relatable at the same time.

I've given up on reading about or listening to anything the detestable cretin spews. It's not like any of it has worth, or, assuming it's even true in the first place - a dubious proposition at the best of times - that whatever it is remains true for more than a hour or two. There's just no point wasting time on it.

“High”lights? Can the man produce highlights?

[–] banause@feddit.org 6 points 5 days ago

From a comedy perspective, yes.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 2 points 5 days ago

They were highlights as in most people would have to be absolutely baked to come up with that many stupid sentences in succession

After Trump had addressed the UN General Assembly he talked with Ukraine's Zelensky, and later posted on social media that Kyiv can "win all of Ukraine back in its original form."

In his post, Trump added Ukraine could "maybe even go further than that", but did not specify what he was referring to.

[–] Anonymaus@feddit.org 1 points 5 days ago

How could they, when trump keeps withholding weapon deliveries to ukraine—and let’s not forget that this is the same person who proposed recognizing crimea as russian?
