New Jersey PBS is expected to cease operations in July 2026 following WNET’s decision not to renew its agreement, the New Jersey Globe has learned.

The decision comes after the federal government decided to cancel funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funded WNET, the parent company of THIRTEEN, the PBS New York affiliate.

Unless they can find a new non-profit funding source, New Jersey could be left without a public television station next year.

As expected, PBS stations across the country are being forced to close.

Thanks Trump, for destroying the one thing Congress could previously agree on. Mr. Rogers would be mortified

Hopefully that's an isolated incident, since the article mentions that they don't recieve state funding (unlike perhaps other states PBS stations), and this particular station was struggling financially already even while Biden was in office.

Still a terrible outcome if they end up not finding a new sponsor.

Perhaps, but WPSU also announced closure of their NPR and PBS station a few days ago
