Yeah no shit you shouldn’t microwave electronics.
I've read somewhere that sticking them in your butt can help reactivate the glue of the driver to the shell. You could try that ?

Actually though, items are really bad for your ears. Because they create a seal and then pump in vibrations, that's one of the most common contributors to hearing loss.

You are clearly knowledgeable enough to know how drivers and microwaves work, yet stupid enough to not have some common sense. Metal absorbs much more energy than water in a microwave, so it wasn't going to boil that off anyway. Likely what happened is a high current being induced with some combination of the coil overheating and burning through. Usually we call this condition as it relates to electronics as "fcked".

Good thing it's just a hola and cheap to replace. You should get a Chu 2 or Lan and try it out. I think it sounds better and is built with better materials, the ergonomics is no longer a dumpster fire and is at least on par with the Hola.
