A clear example can be seen in a throw-in. Our players aren't arsed about marking opposition and we always allow a throwin to an opposition player. On the reverse, we lose the ball most of the times we take throw ins

[–] mzyxkmah@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

About two years, I criticised Rashford on this sub for his substandard performance on the field and the fact that he was more focused on issues off the field, and I was heavily downvoted.

ALL ERAS COME TO AN END - Ten Hag

Seems like his is almost done lol. The players aren't even fighting for him. Sad, really

[–] GroundbreakingCow775@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I do feel for United. Ten Hag inherited a rancid squad character wise and did a good job seemly changing the culture and rooting out some of the rot.

Year plus on and we are still reading the same articles about people not wanting to play for him and leaks from players to the press.

I thought he had made progress but maybe this place just needs to be burned to the ground and start fresh with the youth team.

I don’t know if he is a good manager or should be fired, but I would bet my mortgage every player there except Rashford is a rat

[–] Responsible_Pace9062@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most detailed and articulate Scholes analysis

[–] SwayzoMad@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I couldn't believe what I was watching.

It was like 3v1 on both wings throughout the whole game. No tracking back from wingers or midfielders. Newcastle should have won 8-0

[–] doni-kebab@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Eth has never won an away game against top 8 opposition. In about 15-16 attempts.

Hes not the fixer I thought he'd be. We have lazy players, but he refuses to drop them. Need a clear out. Rashford and martial gone. Don't deserve to wear the badge.

[–] setokaiba22@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Anyone else getting a bit sick of the ex Man Utd stars just ripping the present team a new one every week or so?

Feel it’s been happening for years and expect it like clockwork anytime results don’t go their way.

Of course they should with expectations be doing better, but may just maybe they aren’t good enough to meet those expectations despite the transfer fees and wages?

Maybe that’s the point Man Utd just aren’t as good anymore and perhaps expectations need to match it. There’s no quick fix (as we’ve seen) and ultimately their level is lower.

[–] No-B-Word@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I used to think bruno had piss-poor body language and dragged on team morale and was a poor captain. Now I get it: how can you not be frustrated by these teammates, when you’re actually giving a shit on the pitch?

[–] BIG_FICK_ENERGY@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’m a firm believer that you need to give a manager time (usually at least 3 years) to get his players into the team and teach his system to them. But my God United are so hopelessly dysfunctional and I really don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, I think ETH has to go.

[–] Comessuer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It isn't going to change. They ain't selling Rashford any time soon

[–] antunes98@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

For all the hate he got, it does seem that Cristiano Ronaldo was onto something there.

[–] tassadar8584@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ours players are the millionaires kids . No respects for fan. No hard work just whining. Too lazy players

[–] beaver316@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They ARE getting away with it.

[–] Hokage123456789@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Full quote-

“Rubbish. They’re a poor football team at the moment, aren't they? Those results they’ve had recently are misleading. Too many lazy players on the football team - you can’t get away with that.”

[–] forevermore91@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I see nothing wrong.

Please keep going United

[–] Royjonespinkie@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Effort is the bare minimum to expect in any job. Most of these players didn't even have that.

[–] just_a_random_guy_11@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If the problems persist after spending hundreds of millions and changing players and managers during the course of years and years then it's quite obvious that the players and managers have nothing to do with your problems.

[–] PuzzleheadedGrade116@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

McTominay and Rashford been like this for a while and it rubs off on the whole team I can see why sancho is pissed off ten hag refuses to even acknowledge the problem

[–] gotnegear@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Man utd could be in the midst of a Liverpool esque dry streak with the way they're going. I honestly can't see a way out for them at the moment

[–] FunEconomics1978@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Couldn't agree more with Paul.

[–] PharaohOfWhitestone@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The one I'm most disappointed in is Rashford. He really just doesn't look like he cares. A lot of talent, but no work ethic. For all the hate Maguire gets he actually gives a shit. Seems like a lot of the team have written this season off already and are just chilling.

[–] aindie2009@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I feel like having a clear style of play is so important, that can then drive your recruitment and even if you are not getting the results currently, you can still have faith in the process as long as you can see some progress.

United have no direction, I know Ten Hag says they are following a plan but I dont think any United fan can tell us that plan. They allowed De Gea to leave for a ball playing GK but dont play out of the back, they bought Ambarat whos not really a ball playing DM, he keeps benching Varane. Feels like he's sacking himself

[–] keving691@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Whats mad is we’ve been saying it for years. Different managers, different players, same problems.

[–] VidProphet123@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The manU attacking players (except for bruno) are disgraceful. The midfield tried their best but they are just not athletic enough. ManU defense wasn’t bad

[–] -prostate_puncher-@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If the last decade of Man Utd are anything to go on I reckon you very much CAN get away with that

[–] 3threeLions@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can't really argue with that assessment

[–] detinu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's literally impossible to dominate and win matches comfortably if don't work at least just as hard as the other team. Every match we get outrun, outtackled, lose double the 50/50s as the other team.

These players have thrown 3 (maybe 4) managers under the bus. They're doing exactly the same now. Do you think EtH is telling Rashford and Garnacho to not track back and double up on opposition wingers? Or McTominay to jog around the pitch like he's a Scholes regen?

There's no point firing another manager, just to have the same players who will throw the next one under the bus too. EtH can be a fantastic manager and we know that. But he has to be brave to save his job. We know we're gonna lose matches anyway. At least start moving the club in the direction you want it to go, instead of playing survival football.

[–] Jamey_1999@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I agree here, and this is the difference between them and say Real Madrid.

If you play with that little effort at the Bernabeu, you are getting benched until you’re sold at the first opportunity. Simple as that.

[–] Powerful_School_1795@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lazy footballers for almost 10 years now. These guys always use the to same excuse.

[–] Littlemandigger@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So Ronaldo wasn't that wrong innit?

[–] AkilleezBomb@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s been the same few players for a while now that hide away behind their teammates during the hard matches, and then get by with a handful of serviceable performances each season.

Rashford, Martial, and McTominay come to mind, and it’s crazy to me that they keep getting rewarded with 60-90 minutes almost every week.

[–] SpareIntroduction721@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yall think it’s the stupid high salaries they get from the get go?

[–] HotPotatoWithCheese@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Least self deprecating ex ManU player.

[–] nonsenseSpitter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Only hope is whenever SJR takes over sporting side of the club, that he is ruthless and rids of all these overpaid divas.

One after another manager gets the sack every two to three years but one thing remains constant, players who don’t wanna play for this club.

Martial been at the club for 8 years now. Man hasn’t finished full 90 minutes in the Premier League for 3 years. That’s fucked up.

Rashford has given up. It feels like only our players have personal issues and other top teams don’t. Sancho included. Fuck Jadon Sancho.

Erik ten Hag will get the sack soon unfortunately but then again everything will repeat. The wheel just keeps on turning.

The club needs a clear out like Rangnick said. But one man who spoke the truth got sent back to Austria. What a fucked up football club. Everything starts right from the top.

[–] FistMeQTPie@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Wow, who would have thought that culture does matter after all.

Shit culture in the club, shit culture in the locker room. You can blame the Glazers all you want, but it's also all of upper management that's allowed this to happen as well.

edit: i meant atmosphere, not culture. I'll leave it up though.

[–] lonesomedota@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

U can take the same titles of every posts about United and bring back to Rangnick's half season , then to Ole last season and Mourinho last season and LVG last season.

It all fits perfectly, the same problems, the same culture of laziness and acceptance of mediocrity. Players don't run. Players don't fight for 2nd ball. Players whined and complained about training too much, training too tough, training is too simple.

United is the same damn team that stuck in 2014-2015 while other teams have progressed for 10 years. And back then, this standard may get to compete for top 4. Now? We should be 8th to 12th place kind of team.

Everything is rotten in glazers club. From the tangible things like crumbling stadiums, outdated training facilities, non existence scouting, lack of investment in Youth Academy. To intangible things like the culture, the acceptance of mediocrity, everyone just need to be average and haphazard passable as long as sponsors money are still rolling in.

[–] WPackN2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Knowing the management, they'll sack the Manager instead of getting on player's case and expect the next manager to deal with the same lazy players and expect a better result!

[–] LA4lyf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Untied should have sold Rashford for that $100 mil PSG offered Man shows up every 2 years for 15 games

[–] chippa93@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

There's many physical problems with the United squad - in terms of work rate, strength, and pace. People shit on Rashford, rightfully so, but it's not just him.

AWB is good at tackling, but when he loses the ball high up he jogs back into position.

Luke Shaw is one of our better players, but because of all his injuries he is incredibly slow.

Maguire has been great recently, but again very slow and not agile.

Garnacho is young and that shows in his strength. So easy to outmuscle him.

Martial just can't run anymore and doesn't work hard anyway.

Mctominay works hard but again, not very agile. He has to do a full 180 turn in order to pass.

Amrabat is so slow and similar to Mctominay, turns like a truck.

Eriksen and Casemiro are going over the hill. Both very slow and not agile.

Varane looks like bambi on ice when he's running.

Rashford is extremely lazy and easy to push off the ball.

[–] UJ_Reddit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Football has changed- players need to be athletes before ballers and we just haven’t adapted.

100% out: Martial, Case, Sancho, VdB, Antony.

Should probably go: Dalot, Rashford, Mount, Eriksson, Varane, Evans.

On the fence about AWB, Onana and McT.

[–] UJ_Reddit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’d switch It’d to 5-4-1 and bin off the LW and RW.

Onana

Dalot-Varane-Maguire-Martinez-Shaw

Mainoo-Case

Bruno-Eriksson

Hoiljund

[–] Balbuto@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most of them look like happy benchwarmers, sry

[–] alw9@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

make the team more militaristic. pogba ruined ur team's mentality. fergie used to even disallow colorful boots. start from the smallest things. stop buying cocky young players without having macho seniors like rio or vidic that will shut them up instantly. i highly doubt CR would have been successful under todays man u.

[–] Yoraffe@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think half of this is expectation management. They were never going to be the team that Fergie had, getting top two every season as at least an aim.

Now they just need to aim for Top 4/5 and rebuild internally. Come back stronger. They have the image and the brand and the fans globally that will follow them whatever. Stop trying to be a Fergie team and be a new age club with good values and go from there.

They really need new owners for a start who actually care about the stadium and the club. They don't need money thrown at them, but someone who cares about football.

[–] Bojan1999@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

10 years same story every year with new managers and players every year. After this long players and managers might not be the problem the owners are the problem

[–] mattbrianjess@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

When you stat repeating the same tropes that the fans have been saying you know your time has passed you by.

[–] rokkenrock@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How many times are we gonna keep listening this same shit every other year? You know the outcome. The manager gets the sack. You get Pep in, You get Klopp. Sack in the 2nd year because he's clueless while players eating good.

[–] MrDanKHimself@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s not that they’re lazy. It’s that they just don’t care.
