Brighton properly fucked.

[–] a_guy_named_gai@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why the fuck were 10 mins added to this game???

[–] EcoSoco@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Another great advertisement for the quality of referees in England

[–] Thesecondswallow@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Refs continue to make people despise them more at 11.

[–] goodperspectives@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That was way harder fought than it needed to be, especially in a period where we have 3 games in just over a week. Still, hanging in there should be big for developing some of the players' mentality, especially after last week.

[–] cocaine_model@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How did Brighton not get a corner at the end after the VAR review?

Edit: People have explained in the replies how it is the correct call according to the rules, but if the ball clearly goes out immediately and no one had the opportunity to stop it had the foul not been called, I feel like the rule should be to give the corner. (I’m not a Brighton fan either)

[–] deception42@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why wasn't that a corner after the VAR review

[–] RaginxCanadian@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pawson is not at the level a premier league ref should be.

[–] TrenAt14@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chelsea is comedy pure.
Nearly bottled a 2-0 lead

Officials are shit

[–] ChatSh1t@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

VAR and the field officials were absolutely shocking. I have no idea what the fuck just happened

[–] Follow_The_Lore@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Brighton about to get an apology. What an absolutely dog-shit referee.

[–] PlaneKiwiFruit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How have you managed to give a goal kick after Colwill got pummeled in the face?

[–] Sal21G@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What in the actual fuck?

Fucking hell, I’m quitting my job and becoming a ref, becuase clearly you only need to be stupid as shit to be qualified.

[–] NaiveElk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

PL refs are an absolute joke

[–] Artistic-Buyer-3219@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That was one of the worst officiating performances I’ve ever seen in my life

[–] IHAVEMOSWAGTHANJEBUS@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ref & Var ball. What a shit show

[–] Username6510@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Would love to know what VAR were saying for the handball.

[–] youmademereaIise@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Even if it was a decision that went in our favour, it's a worrying show of how incompetent VAR and the PGMOL is

[–] Still_Unit1071@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Huge win given we went down to 10 men. They had a fair few starters come on in the second half and we still outplayed them

[–] GoalaAmeobi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The funniest possible result

[–] PositiveDuck@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Sanest prem league referee performance

[–] ArmiinTamzarian@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chelsea fans: why can't you be normal??

Chelsea: screams

[–] koreajd@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This ref lost it and him pointing to the spot incorrectly goes to show how rattled he really was. Like holy shit he almost just gave an incorrect penalty call that was cleared by Var, didn’t card Caicedo for his tackles (genuinely think he lost count). I’m not even a damn Brighton fan and they’re closer to our “rivals” this year than Chelsea too but wow to get everything just so incorrect is baffling to me. Drop ball?! What?

[–] velense@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Terrible time with my stream, kept crashing. Can any sympathetic person help me out in my DM’s? Please and thank you.

[–] shaka_bruh@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This and the Liverpool result isn’t what I signed up for

[–] TheThotWeasel@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

With the injuries, the short turnaround time from Athens, the 11 selected and playing away from home, proud of the boys for staying in the game until the very last minute. RDZ and this team are putting together something special, we go again Wednesday!

[–] Rofocal02@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I hope chelsea can keep a good consistence performance. Looking forward to the match vs United.

[–] JustAboutUpToSpeed@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Mastermind De Zerbi bringing on the slowest player in the league against Mudryk.

Also Brighton repeated diving in the 2nd half, not that the ref bothered to book them. Joke of a team.

Joke officials too trying to give Brighton a pen for the ball hitting Colwill in the head.

[–] Eldric_Shadowchaser@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fuck Efan Ekoku and Craig Pawson

If I was not born blessed with the gift of sight, and instead had to rely on Ekokus commentary to understand the game then I would know as much about what actually happened in the match as uncontacted tribes in the Amazon.

Also, Craig Pawson just makes it up as he goes along. Was just bad for both teams.

[–] fuckyouidontneedone@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What a performance down a man for a half, not pretty but we count those

[–] JiveTurkey688@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Aa refereeing display for the ages

[–] cocaine_model@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Great back and forth game. Caicedo should’ve been off but I think the Mudryk pen was the right call

[–] calel8242@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Never a pen, but a drop ball makes no sense. Announcers were totally right, such a farce.

[–] Tomstarkman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

And breathe...

[–] kaplanj23@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

VAR: bro come look at how hard this rocks him in the face.

[–] lrzbca@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Solid survival job after going down to 10 players. Our players need to learn some discipline and stop acting so immature. Learnt nothing in this game about our tactics and stuff. Scrappy win

Referee and VAR performance was horrible

[–] DoX6ConorGallagher@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most calm Chelsea game

[–] Long-Island-Iced-Tea@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Someone please TLDR the drama. e: thanks all

[–] CROBBY2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Again this shows its not the system, it's the morons using it.

[–] SkepticSlakoth@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What an end to the game!

[–] iamGhostBuzz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pay up Di Zerbi that's what you get for complaining 🤣

[–] imarandomdudd@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is it really a chelsea game if neither side feels exhausted and stressed by the end?

[–] official_bagel@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Giving a drop ball instead of a corner is just another illustration about how poor the standard of officiating is.

A monitor check for a clear header. Then taking away Brighton’s corner. This is league embarrassing.

EDIT: Apparently Pawson gave a penalty on the pitch? Guess I (and the majority of the sub based on confusion here) missed that. Weird that no one on the pitch / stadium reacted to the original call either.

[–] darthrector@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

As a Chelsea fan I am embarrassed by our performance and tactics in the second half. Everyone knows that the right response to going down to 10 is playing a high line, getting ripped to shreds, and claiming the moral victory after the game. This was disgraceful #PochOut #It'sNotWhoWeAreMate

[–] Spare-Noodles@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It was a dropped ball because the ref called a penalty on the pitch

[–] HungLuke@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If you don't like chaos that gives you a heart attack, you don't like Chelsea football

[–] luvvdmycat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Travesty.

Dat wuz a.

[–] ii_ConiiK@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can someone explain those last 5 minutes to me?

Ball hits defender square in the face and goes out. VAR check handball. Recommend drop ball. Goal kick given.

Where is the corner? Why use the furthest camera in the stadium to check for handball? Why are Colwill and Sanchez getting into a scrap with their old teams?

What?
