Expected to lose coming in epically with the lineup but now it feels shit because we threw things away, knew Milner shouldn't have come on just can't deal with pace at all.

Mitoma getting back to his best I thought very electric just no one in the right area to find his crosses.

Brentford at home midweek is a must win if we want to actually challenge for a European spot this season.

[–] resident_hater@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poch is the right guy for this situation. Mess of a club but he's come in and kinda steadied the water for a bit.

[–] rossco9@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How the hell did Caicedo stay on the pitch?

[–] wingedtwat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

For all you idiots who refuse to learn the law of the game, Pawson's initial decision was a penalty. VAR saw it was a clear and obvious error hence they told him to check the monitor as VAR cannot make decisions themselves. Pawson checks and sees its not a penalty. Play restarts with a drop ball for the keeper as per the rules of VAR reviews.

[–] ZebraQuality@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Never seen anything like it since the Tottenham game, officials doing their best to give the opposition a win, giving a corner for a shot that is miles wide we concede from, no red for Milner, then the most obvious head of all time sent for a review. Why is VAR so fucked for Chelsea and Wolves

[–] nsk08001@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pawson pointed to the spot in real time. It was very subdued but it happened. It’s why he comes back from VAR and makes the VAR motion to change the call and why it’s not a corner. Play stopped when it hit Colwill and the ball technically never goes out

[–] Xehanz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Brighton robbed of a corner at the end

[–] montiel_scores@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

IDK what was going on at end but that’s. a huge win

[–] Pxtxr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What a shitshow

VAR called the ref over for an onfield review when it clearly hit Levi's head

They then gave a freekick to Chelsea when we should have had a corner

Caicedo should have been sent off

What the fuck is this

[–] Hawkeye91803@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What a truly, truly, truly awful officiated game…

[–] Chapea12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

VAR official: “yo, come watch this video. This guy gets totally nailed in the face. So funny…. Wait what were we doing? Um.. do a drop ball.”

[–] herkalurk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It was clearly off the players face, unsure what the ref saw there.....

[–] montiel_scores@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That was egregious refereeing at the end but we fought hard here. Sanchez and Enzo were absolutely fantastic.

[–] kw2006@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Brighton has enough chances inside the box to just shoot but they choose to move the ball around. Could have scored in one of those.

[–] flower____boi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Terrible game from Pawson. Last ten minutes was a joke, especially the penalty and subsequent drop ball bullshit. Not to mention not giving a clear second yellow to Caicedo earlier

[–] fluffyglof@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We played horribly. Up a man for an entire half and only scored once. Yes, the refereeing was insane, but we have to play better

[–] rtgh@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I need somebody to post the 'handball' sequence from the end of the match, sounds hilariously bad reffing all round

[–] b33b0p17@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good game in the end shame it’ll be overshadowed by refs again just like every other game in the past year.

[–] lampageu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can anybody explain why it's a drop ball?

[–] 1tap-merchant@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Kinda weird seeing brighton fans complaining about ref when they were going down easy and winning soft fouls whole game.

[–] Crumeshot@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How are all these announcers/commentators seriously claiming the Milner challenge wasn’t a foul? Am I missing something? Surely they’re just trying to be controversial?

[–] fan-tung@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most Chelsea matches have just been fever dreams as far as I’m concerned. Don’t think I see as many strange and weird events in other matches - not talking about incorrect or controversial - just weird.

[–] zaqstr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is the Mudryk penalty really that controversial?

[–] ClaytonWest74@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

today is absolutely disaster class by referee

so almost any other day really

[–] Ryuzakku@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chelsea is going to have to find some midfielders to put on their bench for yellow card management purposes.

[–] j65dxUb@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

will get downvoted but all the problems with this match was due to the on field ref and not VAR.

Without VAR, the penalty isn’t given when it should’ve been (pawson said no). then pawson isn’t sure about mitoma dive it’s reviewed and rightly no, but pawson doesn’t book him. then the handball, the ref gives and VAR recommends to overturn it and drop ball as that’s the rules.

todays problems are all on the on field ref Pawson, not VAR.

other incidents: caicedo no second yellow? pawson. milner no second yellow? pawson. corner for brightons goal? pawson.

VAR worked well today.

[–] cheezus171@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Will be controversial but I think Pochettino can be very happy with his team. They basically only allowed one proper goalscoring chance to Brighton (who like to have a lot of possession) while playing with 10 men for an hour. They also converted what they should have converted, which is rare for Chelsea.

Also, anyone has any idea why Milner didn't get a red card? If it's a foul, he's the last defender so it has to be DOGSO And therefore a red...

[–] CechPlease@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That VAR no penalty = no corner situation was complete bullshit.

[–] JR4369592@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Following the BBC Sport minute by minute has shaved a few years off.

[–] ToasterRouble@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That review for hand ball… is the VAR official insane?

[–] Shinunayo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

is this the kind of shit pl enjoyers watch each week xd

[–] Ldsantana@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What the fuck was that VAR call?

It hits him in the head, 0 reason to send Pawson to the monitor.

Also WHY THE FUCK DID BRIGHTON NOT GET A CORNER?

[–] Chapea12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ref standards and VAR standards have been atrocious this season.

[–] 1tap-merchant@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Brighton couldn't win against 10 men defensively susceptible Chelsea for more than a half. They were going down the whole game very easy winning fouls against Chelsea. Had they stayed on their feet maybe they could have won. Chelsea I would say were lucky to get a win because their opponents chose to do simulations instead of playing football.

[–] xmidgetprox@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Seagull pack

[–] Reszi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It wasn't a corner because the ref called for a penalty before the ball went out of play. That got overturned, so they gave a drop ball - even though the ball would have obviously gone out of play, the game stopped when the ref blew the whistle.

[–] mj979@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Cocks out boys! Dub has been sealed

[–] kevinjqiu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The pen check + drop ball was one of the most bizarre VAR incidents I've seen.

[–] fluffyglof@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That was not a pen at the end obviously, but Colwill got super lucky with his arm up like that

[–] NoLimit261@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is ugochukwu injured

[–] NotClayMerritt@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Another game where the result was positive but so many variables that leave a mixed taste in your mouth. Disasi and Badiashille were fucking massive today. They can share MOTM.

[–] CaptLeaderLegend26@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I still have no clue what happened in the last 5 minutes of that match.

[–] wm_1176@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A mix of a bad ref, the worst VAR, and a a truly terrible commentator

[–] vk2499@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tim Howard is a pathetic analyst. Dude is mad Chelsea are celebrating a win and that the ref gave a clear pen. How he has a job is a mystery.

[–] Odawg10@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That shit Milner pulled against Broja was fucked up. Could’ve seriously injured him and referees just continue to ignore it. If any one has a replay I’d love to see it again, broja nearly folded half

[–] moranjog@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

de zerbi probably dislikes 95% of refs now

[–] yrugay1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chelsea has got to be the most entertaining team in the world right now for all the good and bad reasons lol

[–] iamGhostBuzz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Step 1: Complain you don't like 75% of the league refs.

Step 2: Decisions go against your team.

Step 3: Act shocked?

[–] WatchLaw@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Milner should've been off twice lol

[–] Coulstwolf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Has there been a team to get less refereeing decisions than Chelsea? Not talking about the big ones. The 50/50 fouls are literally just never given in Chelsea’s favor. It’s a joke
