Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Not slop - it's a picture I made on top of slop.

Oh, I have plenty to spare. Just need a direction.

Name a celebrity we should idolize as a Linux distro.

This probably isn't what you wanted, but it's what happened.

to be fair, shitty dumb memes is probably the best use of AI slop there is.

    [–] germanatlas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But this would’ve been so freaking easy to do practical, just put some "graphic design is my passion"-esque text on some image of Taylor Swift, use it as you wallpaper and take an image

    [–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Not really. Do you really think I have Taylor Swift posters up around the house?

This was a joke in comments about Nicolas Cage Linux that I threw together in about 10 minutes while I was having coffee, and my phone was infinitely far away in another room, so it would have been a laptop screen customized to the point that you can't tell what distro is in there, in front of a kitchen. Not quite the same as taking some AI Taylor Swift-themed setting and then adding an over the top Mint background violated by T-Swizz.

The superficiality is kind of the point I'm trying to make. Repackage Mint as "MinTay Linux" and that's all it would take for the Swifties to pounce on something as "challenging" as switching from Windows to Linux. There, Peter explained the joke to you, are you happy?

Do you really think I have Taylor Swift posters up around the house?

    Do you not?

    [–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

nah, I don't feel like wasting insane amounts of electricity and water to make a meme

    [–] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Shouldnt a low effort post actually look like there was little effort put in? AI is trying to look like something high-effort

    [–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Mint desktop is 3 layers of screepcaps mashed together in GIMP. Do you really think an AI that can't get a keyboard right managed to get the Mint desktop background right and add her face perfectly?

    [–] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago

I was not talking about if the post was made with AI or not

I just was responding to someone talking about a potential use of AI

    [–] rtxn@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

All you had to do was google "thinkpad" and pick out a stock photo.

    [–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Well, I was trying to get some bootleg free generator give me a pink Tay-Tay themed desktop and it was only giving me MBPs for a while.

And would the stock photo included Taylor Swift posters in the background?

Yeah, because I added OC on top, like a jaunty hat.

    Try and keep up, OK?

    [–] bmpvy@feddit.org 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

    [–] tomiant@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago

I miss netbooks so god damned much! Amazing machines. Only reason they don't make them anymore is because they can make ten times more money on making ten times worse shitmachines because people will just buy what's available anyway, there is no "the consumer decides what's on the market" and there never was, it was always a lie, people will buy what they're offered and like it.

    Fuck everything.

That's a no from me boss.
