Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Pritzker, an heir to the Hyatt hotel chain, has a net worth of $3.9 billion, tied for No. 382 on the Forbes 400 list of the nation’s richest people. A campaign spokesperson said via email that Pritzker planned to donate the money to charity but did not respond when asked why he hadn’t already done so.

Well, that's good. Billionaires need more while the rest of us klarna a pizza.

He's just gonna donate to himself. He's got his own "charities".

It's 0.03% of his networth...

The average net worth in his state is 189k.

So propertionally it would be like an average constituent winning $66.

Which isn't nothing, but it puts his priorities in perspective when he held onto it. Most people would buy a round of drinks for their friends...

But that's not how you get in any of the lists Forbes publishes. You get on those list caring about your high score more than literally anything else.

This was disclosed from his taxes.

If he meant to donate it like he said, there's no plausible reason it wasn't done during the same tax year to minizme taxes...

You don't get on Forbes #400 richest individuals in America by not having a team of accountants to notice basic shit like that.

Besides the fact that if he honestly cared about charitable donations, he'd never have amassed 3.9 billion in wealth. 1.4M isn't even a rounding error in his networth, he probably didn't give it a second thought or realize it's a life changing amount of money for 99.999% of his constituents.

Another very decent Democrat being vilified by the group who spend so much time tearing everyone down that they don’t have time to run anyone.

What a joke.
