Are these still comedy horror films or have they gone straight gore porn and jump scares like everything else?

Well then they would have gone full circle, because the first one wasn't intended to be funny.
Good point I suppose, I do forget that, but I think it works well and sets it apart from other franchises, or did.
It would be difficult to get the comedy working without Bruce Campbell.
I dunno, I thought Naked Gun would suck without Leslie Nielsen but I think Liam Neeson did a fantastic job, not the same but good. I wouldn't mind seeing Elijah Wood give it a go.
It'd be a very different vibe for sure, but Elijah Wood in an Evil Dead movie does sound fun.
Rise certainly wasn't as comedic as Army of Darkness but it wasn't super dark and serious either. I'd say that the closest comparison recently is M3GAN
Ah hmm that's unfortunate not a huge fan of the scary doll type of horror movies.
Nice. I'm not the biggest fan of 4 & 5, but good to see there's passion there
