If police have time to creep out like this instead of solving real crimes then the sherriffs office is way overfunded and they should cut these staff.

You are assuming the sheriff had the same priorities as you. Perhaps he thinks this is an important crime to solve.

Trickery is not the best way to demonstrate your faith in your cause.

it's telling that so many are unaware that flock is doing this in texas or anywhere else in the country; if the well educated and connected people don't know, how is anyone else expected to know?

I still find it crazy that everybody was freaking out over 15 minute cities allegedly limiting where you would be allowed to go, and yet these camera systems were just quietly installed and nobody gave a shit

the 15 minute city hysteria was manufactured by right-wing grifters on the (mostly) indirect behalf of the automobile industry which is threatened by better urban planning
the right-wing want the cameras so there is no outrage

americans are told what to be freaked out about by american propaganda and that's controlled by the american right-wing.

You're very naive if you think only propaganda is controlled solely by right wingers lol

it is in the western world and especially true in the united states.

I vent my frustration at cameras when I play the Hitman games. Even when I destroy the footage and shut down all surveillance (god i wish it was as simple as typing a few buttons or shooting a single bullet into a computer.) I still destroy cameras either by shooting them or (more viscerally) throwing something at them.

So the sheriff immediately got fired for blatantly lying and the flock contract cancelled for the same reason, right?

Right?

Promoted more likely.

You know what happens to cops who shoot blacks multiple times without justification? Most of the time it isnt swept under the rug. It is actually rewarded behavior. They get promoted down the line and often end up better off than their less violent colleagues.

So tired of these Bible thumping backwards states

I avoid these things like the plague. Luckily I'm from poor Mississippi. They don't have the budget for actual coverage, but I doubt it lasts.

Private companies put them up on behalf of the police

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 month ago

Private citizens do too if flock is connected to Ring.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago

No companies required. Anyone can buy them. The neighborhood around the corner from me has them at the entrance.

[–] freedickpics@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Whether it's companies, gov or cops they'll spin any lie to get what they want
