All Quiet On the Western Front. The movie was a failure.

Narratively the movie was a disjointed confusing mess.

What it did a decent job of was capturing the horrors of trench warfare. The battle with the tanks and flame throwers was horrific. I have to tip my hat to what the movie did there.

Other than that the rest of the made no sense.

It is unclear what the timeframe of the movie was. Was it a few weeks, all four years?

I am a bit of a WWI history buff so I understood the significance of all the stuff with Daniel Bruhl’s character.

The movie never even told the viewer that character’s name. Nor did it ever really tell the viewer who anyone was. The movie spent a lot of time on a French farmhouse that the German soldiers like to rob a lot. That was just absurd and didn’t make any sense.

Didn't really mean to do this, but I ended up watching the entire Back to the Future trilogy the other night, not finishing until about 2am. That was fun, not seen those movies, especially 2 and 3, for ages.
