Aren't they only called penguins because of their resemblance to the now extinct great Auk, a Northern pole bird? Which would justify the attachment to the North pole and Santa?

My mom bought some awesome South American Christmas ornaments way back in the day. One of them is a parrot and it has been on the tree as long as I can remember.

Parrots are Christmas animals now.
