In 2000, physicists Sir Andre Geim and Sir Michael Berry won an Ig Nobel prize for making a frog levitate using magnets.

In 2010, Geim also earned a Nobel Prize in physics for his work in discovering graphene. He's the only person to have won both awards.

This article is for red alder but green is common here and does the same thing. We use it a ton in reclamation, as it eventually gets thinned out by tree species which grow taller.

Alder is hyper competitive, builds soil and tough as nails which makes it a great pioneer species

From the Interstellar wikipedia page: The resulting visual effects provided Thorne with new insight into the gravitational lensing and accretion disks surrounding black holes, resulting in the publication of three scientific papers.[71][72][73]
