I love Sweeney's holier than thou attitude. MFer, you don't give a shit about anything other than self-enrichment and social standing among other oligarchs.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 50 points 3 weeks ago

It seems like the mask has fallen for basically all of these techbro oligarchs now, considering the recent CES show with nvidia, palantir and the rest of the rotten bunch. They now know they don't have to pretend to be for the common people anymore. Trump has given them carte blanche to act like the fascist oligarchs that they are, because they are completely immune from any repercussions, both legally, politically and economically.

The best part in this is how trivially easy it is to prevent AI from creating nude images. There already exists several nudity detectors, some of them even use everyone’s favorite buzz word of the day: AI. Just feed the AI’s output to one of them.

But, let’s ignore that, and instead focus on AI’s right to produce illegal content from illegal source material.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 30 points 3 weeks ago

Right?

They already have a shit ton of filters and stuff to stop you from producing unflattering images of musk or Trump, but making them if children seems like something they don't really care to stop.

All I’m hearing is Tim Sweeney likes child porn

[–] CanadianCorhen@lemmy.ca 37 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Dude, you already came to the defense of CSAM. Stop digging.

[–] hume_lemmy@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 weeks ago

Well, in Timmy's defence, being against CSAM really does appear to target one specific political party at the moment....

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 37 points 3 weeks ago

Trying to defend any amount of CSAM is deplorable.

Man's looking at his own dug grave and decided the only problem is he didn't have a big enough shovel XD

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Well, yeah. Can't argue with that. Y'all remember the controversy over his misplaced USB stick full of porn? That he only had for "academic" purposes?

[–] stephan262@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago

That was Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox. He has his fair share of controversial statements, but I don't recall him ever defending CSAM.

I think you're thinking of Randy Pitchford, who is also a piece of shit.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

Ops. They belong in the same pile, though, yes

[–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 weeks ago

And not enough time to dig the grave...

This whole article is about a Xitter exchange:

PC Gamer:

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney argues banning Twitter over its ability to AI-generate pornographic images of minors is just 'gatekeepers' attempting to 'censor all of their political opponents'

Timmy:

This is a vile lie by PC Gamer. I criticized a government official for pressuring Apple and Google to block a speech app owned by their political opponent, deplatforming 500,000,000 users on the pretense of stopping a small number of users from distributing disgusting content.

Saved you a click.

[–] ashughes@feddit.uk 24 points 3 weeks ago

Everything Epic Games makes is derivative slop anyway. Good to see Tim is what he makes.

[–] marighost@lemmy.zip 18 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Most punchable face in the gaming industry right now.

I've actually put up with a lot of Tim Sweeney controversies and even have some games locked in the platform, uninstalling the platform indefinitely now.

[–] quafeinum@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yep, never liked it anyway and fuck those free games they try to fix you up with.

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 7 points 3 weeks ago

Fuck tim, fuck epic

Tim Sweeney, the guy who sounds like he gets off on X's child porn and probably spent a lot of time on Trump and Epstein's Pedophile Island? That Tim Sweeney? 🤔
