And A-CAQ-AB
Random auditing of politicians and police. Any politician or police officer caught on their personal phone or otherwise wasting pubic funds should be reprimanded and fined.
If they have nothing to hide they have nothing to worry about.
Don't forget mandatory drug tests.
For fucking what? What good have "random" (read: motivated by the officers biases) searches ever done for public safety?
I think the "to randomly stop people" is for decoration. They're actually describing the authoritarian personality disorder that makes someone want to be a cop. "The police need power" is the essence. And I say, fuck that! The police need boundaries, better judgement, and a shock or two to the system because I agree with another commenter, ACAB.
How about they find a reason to harass people first?
My dad (white guy in very white city) was getting pulled over constantly because he was coming home from work (projectionist at a movie theatre) at 1AM all the time. Same guy every time. After about the dozenth time he drove to the detachment in the morning and had a discussion with the sergeant and that shit ended.
They just like being dickheads.
I watched an Irish show and the plate reader randomly chooses a car to pull over and they were required to search the car. Something left over from the civil war they were having I think. But the random being computer and not officer made sense.
As a young (white) person with a new driver's license, I was pulled over all the time, and the cops always found a problem (according to them) So, I do not agree with profiling of any kind, especially racial profiling. But if you (cop) spot a car with lights out at night, tires that have no tread, "do your job and pull those people over for driving an unsafe vehicle on our highways.' Who knows, you might find some real bad actors in the process. Police do not need more powers; just do the job you swore an oath to do. Catch real bad guys.
