I love Cavill, unfortunately his products have a terrible track record.

Unfortunately there is now way this will be worth it. Highlander was great because it had a Frenchman playing a Scott, a Scott playing a Spaniard and Clancy Brown playing one of the greatest villains of all time all set to Queen’s awesome soundtrack.

Every attempt since at this material has been utter dogshit.

Holy shit... I never realised that was Clancy Brown, I got his old face so ingrained as an actor I never made the connection!

I find it a bit ironic that you recognize his face. To me I recognize his voice. Once I hear that deep rich voice I know Clancy Brown is in it.

He does a lot of cartoon voice acting and that’s how i recognize Mr Krabs, too.

In this case it is probably because I saw that movie in my teens. I live in a country where movies are dubbed, so I never even heard his voice until much much later.

Ah, got it!

I was so enthralled with the superb charter he'd pkayed at the time, I noted who it was and followed him in many of his productions since.

To me his character and the soundtrack are the glue that made the movie. It wasnt until No Country for Old Men and Javier Badem's character that I thought id seen an equally "good" bad guy

A head which at this time has no name. "I know his name!"

Clancy Brown is like Tim Curry: No matter what, they will always make it watchable.

I enjoyed the TV series. The Four Horsemen arc was pretty good.

If I don't get to hear a groundbreakingly shit Scottish accent, I'm going to riot.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Aye, but do we also get a Shpanish one?

[–] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 7 points 1 month ago

Oh shit, is Daniel Craig available?

Excuse me, I may be being whooshed here, were the swords ever in question?

[–] leavemealone@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (5 children)

I mean a strong shotgun and then an axe on a downed immortal's neck seems easier to me but you do you.

[–] teft@piefed.social 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Found the mississippian highlander…

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay but. They have swords though.

Yeah I would choose efficiency though. Taser, shotgun everything should be a go in a modern tv show. In the old one, the immortal 11 years old kid Kenneth would use anything he could to achieve survival. They always show us that the older immortals have the advantage as they had more time to train anyways, so why would other immortals didn't go with modern weapons I have no idea... For a TV show reboot the question must have been asked by someone in the writer room. Why is sword the meta? It's not really logical.

In kill bill the one who fared the better against the bride was Bud for a good reason. He brought a shotgun to the sword fight

Hear me out: chainswords.

Pretty sure Richie used a train on Mikey

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Eh why? The OG is perfect.

Come on hollywood how about some originality?

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

This comment is so played out. If you’re looking for originality Hollywood after the last 20 years, you’re looking in the wrong place.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All these nostalgic comments make me wish I had seen the original as an adult. I saw it as a kid and just thought it was bad. No concept of ironic enjoyment.

[–] misk@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The first one is genuinely good. It’s the later ones that require significant amounts of irony and/or drugs.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago

Maybe it's not too late for me yet.
