Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I apparently got fucking shadow banned for fucking using a VPN??? What the actual fuck.I can't do anything, and I tried making a new account only to get shadowbanned just a day later. I am now banned on my main account + 2 other acocunts, because reddit sucks, and apparently the solution is to appeal DAILY until I get unbanned?

Is there any actual solution than spamming an appeal button every day?

[–] thagoat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 month ago

You should have stopped at Fuck Reddit.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Why are trying so hard to talk to people that don't want you around?

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

After the shit they've pulled in the last few years it's your fault for using reddit.

Yes, it's run by fascist sociopaths. Yes, you are stupid if you continue contributing to the fascist PsyOp.

I like how our society places so much responsibility on private companies to manage communities, really what could go wrong. Just institutionally protected employees that are nothing more than power tripping Reddit mods because Reddit hired a decent amount of them and put them in high positions, solidifying the toxic moderator culture they already had.

I've seen the admins go on really petty vendettas against people for just mentioning them in threads, shadow banning them for the dumbest reasons. Just know your ban doesn't mean you failed in any way, this company is just morally bankrupt, as are many other companies like it in several industries.

Remains of good old Reddit died soon after the AI industry boom. Now it is just a puppet corpse controlled by evil forces.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 weeks ago

thats when they started using Ai to ban people, so the amount of appeals can be ignored.

Why the fuck are you still using reddit at all? You are directly contributing funds via advertising to supporters of fascism and pedophilia.

Literally stop. Cut all contact. Do not respond or interact in any way.

I got perma-banned for anti-nazi comments, so I quit giving them free content.

[–] BlasphemousTiefling@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 weeks ago

Woww what the actual fuck? Fucking fascist pieces of shit

I’m so glad to find this alternative, I’ve hated the platform for years. The down voting culture was toxic, and every time I voiced this I got banned.

They then started to slowly trial subs with no downvoting and lo and behold, success.

You cannot delete your account. The button to delete is broken, is that coincidence? They must have some of the best programmers coding on the planet, yet the option to leave is greyed out, hmmm

Is there any actual solution than spamming an appeal button every day?

Just accept that this is the best thing that could happen

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

Forget Reddit exists has worked for me.

[–] ugandan_airways@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Not to be the guy with same complaint as everyone else, but I got a permanent ban for telling an abusive mod to fuck off. I had a 15 year old account as well. I tried to appeal but that was denied. Hard to believe it’s the end of the road with that site, especially just for telling someone to “fuck off.” I admit I said that, but give me a break. Mod reported my last four comments—none of which were controversial—to make it a permanent ban. Or at least this is why I’m guessing why he reported so many of my comments.

But honestly, good riddens. I feel like Reddit is just full of right wing freaks, 10 year olds, and bots now. Just have to adapt to not checking Reddit first. So far I’m liking Lemmy, but still getting the hang of it.

Anyway, allow me to join the chorus of people (not bots) saying “Fuck Reddit.”

It's really sad that this is how it ends. I used to like reddit, when it used to be good. Now I see why people hate it so much, it's taking a really bad direction.

Same here with Lemmy, I love the idea of the federation and I like it so far.

reddit is dead internet theory in action.

this is a precise example of why.

i was also permabanned for calling a literal nazi, a literal nazi. ill let you guess who, and when that happened. it shouldnt be hard.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 weeks ago

its been dead for a while, a post on reddit a few years ago was glossed over as anothing burger, when in fact after thier major purges reddit realized they ban to many users.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You could have stopped at "fuck reddit."

[–] Konstant@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

Shadow banning should be ilegal. Just saying

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
  • Get banned
  • Get shadow banned
  • Create alt account
  • Banned shadow account by admins
  • Join Lemmy
  • Bitch about Reddit on Lemmy <<Ur Here
  • Get banned from a Lemmy group for the exact reason you were first banned
[–] Bazell@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Looks funny but is not funny.

[–] AgentBoom@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I joined Lemmy for the same reason. After creating 4 accounts on Reddit and getting all of them shadow banned, I gave up. The only realistic way to use it is creating a new account without VPN, but I don't know if you can still get banned for "ban evasion".

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

This happens to everyone who is a human. Reddit is only bots..

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 4 weeks ago

they have been shadowbanning vpn usage since early 2024. the ban evaders use paid methods now.

[–] Auster@thebrainbin.org 1 points 4 weeks ago

Not quite the same, but since Reddit doesn't want you there, why not try feeding other forums? There's plenty outside of the fediverse too.
