We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

I doubt it will matter much. Like GPUs, prices during the crunch doubled. After the crunch prices went down ~20%. Everyone cheered that the shortage was over. No one seemed to notice that everyone was still paying 1.8X more.
So ram is up like 4x. After the shortage prices will drop 25%. People will be paying 3x for ram and think everything is great.
The GPU peices have risen before crypto.
Not as much but it was only a matter of time.
Heard that a year ago.
Yup and last year I bought a 3090ti for $450 used on Ebay.
More like 3 years until the market demand is satisfied and the prices can normalize.
Remember, foundries mentioned they were booked well beyond 2026.
They'll never buildout all the proposed infra. TSMC isn't building new fabs to meet the smoke and mirrors demand that's proposed by Altman. There's not enough power in the grid and Trump is trying his damndest to suppress solar.
They should just release the steam controller while they figure out RAM stuff.

Same. My 360 controller must be 20 years old now. It yearns for a peaceful life in the dusty old tech box in the basement but I can't let it go yet.
Glad they're at least keeping us updated given the absolute clusterfuck going on with DDR5.
And here I was ready to finally give VR a real go this year with the Steam Frame. It‘s probably not going to happen anymore.

All steam has to do to win with the frame is price it low enough.
They've already stated that they aren't going to sell the hardware at a loss. This is because they want the hardware business to be sustainable.
Meanwhile Meta is selling their headsets at a steep loss because they're making it back by selling all of your data that they collect with it.
And it sounds as if they're giving up that Goat soon enough.
They just laid off all of their staff devoted to VR.
Zuckerberg is building a bunker. Seriously, underneath his house. 24 seven work is going on unless he’s pissed off all his fucking neighbors on this. You’d think he’d wanna create a virtual world. He could escape into every now and then and that good kind of explain why you pushed so much on this, but not why he’s backing off now all the world‘s collapsing around them.
I do not understand what the fuck he’s trying to do with Facebook. It’s full of old people and bots. You spend the money on bots, and the old people are going to die eventually. So what the fuck is he going for?

There's a few more election results left in influencing some of those old people. I'm sure that fetches a decent price, assuming Putin can find the money to keep buying.
No rig, no buying new games for my oldie, who cannot play even over year old games anymore.
Guess I stick with the classics I do already own.
