For real...
That's one way to get me to spend zero dollars per month on Amazon Prime.
seems like I will no longer be paying for prime. that's honestly the reason I started in the first place, shipping was secondary to me.
Same, and I also like the channels subscriptions so everything is in one place. But I also pirate a lot so I guess I'll have to do it even more!
Not this Canadian because I'm cancelling. There's not much worth watching on there anyhow. Not enough to tolerate commercials.
I have this service and never use it, instead pirating the material they have for a much enhanced viewing experience. I love irony.
Piracy gets you a higher media quality, gives you more options for playback, doesn't require an constant internet connection and gives you permanent access. Why would I pay for a worse experience?
edit: I'd like to add that I would gladly pay higher than DVD/Bluray prices to get DRM free media from the original publisher.

Preach it brother. I setup a 30TB Plex server with all the Arr's and couldn't be happier.
Even if my internet drops, I can still watch everything I have.
How can I see commercials on Amazon Prime Video if I don't subscribe to Amazon Prime Video?

Phew! I was going to forget to cancel my prime subscription since the holiday season has come to an end.
For the last year, the number of worthwhile movies that I can watch on Amazon vs. through a paid subscription to someone else on Amazon has been steadily decreasing. Honestly, they've been getting scummier for five years. This may be the cancellation of my Prime service.
In the Prime app, you can see how much you've saved with Prime over the last year... Looks like it will be cheaper for me to just cancel outright.

I misinterpreted this, thinking it was showing me savings on shipping and such.
Instead, I think it's referring specifically to savings on purchases that were Prime Exclusive Deals or maybe Prime Early Access.

Adam Conover did a great video about "Free shipping" is a scam and actually ends up costing you more overall. Ultimately the companies are using the same logistics companies you could with no special discounts, and in order to make a profit pocket the excess. Which isn't as bad as the alternative what is happened with insurance where the cost of everything ballooned to obscene extents even if you had a plan, then once they were too big to fail insurance companies just stopped paying out leaving you in a smoldering crater of the full hyperinflated price.
Where do you find this in the app? I found a tally for what prime services I’d used, but no savings total yet….

I’m using the iOS version. Shouldn’t be a difference as it’s only a webpage, so it’s likely an account difference of some sort.
Maybe they only show the ‘savings’ when there’s data to show. I don’t see that either. Time for me to cancel too

Just out of curiousity, is there an Amazon competitor for online shopping? I mostly use eBay and AliExpress for tech stuff, but the $3/month grab after spending $120/year on Prime is just bullshit.
Somehow I'm already seeing ads on Prime. Must be some channel my wife subscribed us to?
Yeah, I've been catching up on Doctor Who and the ads at the beginning of episodes were skippable last week, but today they're not, and the ads they're talking about in this article don't even start until the end of January, so it's likely to just get worse.
I won't know though, cancelled my account this evening.
Weird; I’ve been doing the same with no ads. Maybe because I’m using uBlock Origin?

The next ten years are all going to be about migrating users to the ad supported teir. That's where the real money is.
